<’s happy ^ has made the switch to Linux!

< tested GTA V again, and for some reason it runs better on Nvidia with proprietary drivers than it does with Mesa, yet Origins works perfectly on Mesa and not on Nvidia. Mesa is constantly improving though, so it will likely improve the frame rates of certain games in the future.
< couldn't get the hang of Linux at first, nothing would work properly for <, and when < tried to fix things, it just made everything else worse, even ruining the entire installation on a couple of occasions.
Now that < learned a few things about the OS, < actually has all of those things working perfectly. < is enjoying using Linux.

<'s still happy enough using Debian, and whenever < boots Windows, < complains about how bad it is.
< wonders if ^ disabled secure boot in the BIOS before attempting the installation? Either that or see if it has an option like "Other OS" instead of "Windows UEFI Mode".
< will need to watch tutorials on how to dual boot linux, but < will do that the next time.
< checked out of <‘s hotel this morning and is having lunch with <‘s dad before we go home. < isn’t sure how < is feeling about going home like this but at least < is happy to still have somewhere to go back to.

< remembers the good old pre-UEFI days when dual-booting Linux was simply a matter of popping in the intstallation CD, specifying where to install it and letting it off. It really is all going to hell…
< tried Better Rayman 3 again. This time < used the d3d8.ini file to route through d3d9, and copied in the d3d9.dll file from the widescreen BG&E patch. < set both d3d DLLs to native, builtin and < ended up with the same issues as before. When < used just native for the DLLs (as was done for BG&E itself with d3d9.dll) it wouldn't even start.

Dual booting is pretty easy, especially if someone is using Mint or Ubuntu. All that needs to be changed is secure boot really if it's enabled. From there, it's a walk in the park, and even says "Install Mint alongside them" as an option when installing it on a hard drive that has Windows, where it will automatically make a new partition if you're not sure what you're doing.

< remembers having the same issue, and the fact that it won't start with native is why the issues are the same. < had to keep removing d3d9 from the overrides to make the game work again. < still wants to give it another try, but < isn't sure what else to do, considering what <'s tried so far.

< tried to install the AMDGPU driver on <'s Debian installation just to see what would happen, it just booted to a black screen.
< had to use "nomodeset" to get back into a tty screen then uninstall the driver from there. < is glad that < can do things like that now, whereas a few months back, < would have either reinstalled a distro from scratch or just went back to Windows.

< has only tried Mint, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE and Fedora really before trying Debian. < prefers Debian so far out of everything < has tried.
There may be a few extra hoops to jump through in order to get everything working properly, but < likes that, because at least < is learning things instead of everything just working out of the box. It makes < feel better about having it up an running, so < can only imagine how Plum felt about LFS.
< had to install many lib files in order to get QCMA working, as the release key for the Debian version was only for Stretch.
< also sees that the poll thread expires later, and that everyone seems to be right handed.

Yeah same with <, and < uses google chrome as well, so it’s possible it may have something to do with R4Y’s settings on his browser. But < is just hypothesizing there....

< uses chrome on the phone but Firefox on Debian. Either way, the address bar on the top of the browser will remember the history and even typing R will suggest raymanpc.com.
< decided to try out a Dreamcast emulator called Redream, since it can increase the internal resolution of the games. Now < can use that to play Rayman 2 at a higher resolution than the PC version and in Widescreen too. < likes the Dreamcast version anyway.

< used to do that. The problem with < was, < tends to constantly check tabs that are still open so < eventually just stopped leaving a tab open. < usually can just press 'R' and have raymanpc.com show up right away, like Steo's browser does.
