< will definitely have a time in at least when < picks it up later. :P

< will try it later too, but for now, < really needs to figure out how to properly remove the QT and KDE files from the /usr directory that seem to conflict when < is trying to update. < had tried removing all the files that have the same name as the ones in both opt/kf5 and opt/qt5, but when < does this and then tries to reinstall them, things don't work. SDDM doesn't seem to work, but startx tries to launch Plasma, only for it to result in a black screen with a cursor. There aren't even any errors in journalctl for startx, only if < tries to start SDDM, so it's strange.

< wishes ^ the best of luck with what ^ has to take care of regarding Linux. :)

< has taken to watching Persona 3 playthroughs lately. < isn't going to be starting on those games anytime soon, but < is interested in watching them.

< is sad for ^^ about having to start from scratch like that. :(

Still, < remembers < let a lot more garbage build up before < started from scratch, and then that was only because < accidentally wiped the hard drive. :fou: < definitely did a much better job the second time!

< is still trying to save it by reverting to the last working backup, though the /usr folder must be messed up in some ways. If < does have to start over, < will install Xorg in /opt too, but at least having the partition backup gives < something to experiment with before having to completely start over.

< is satisfied because < learned to properly steer and use the pedals today
However, < is also extremely upset and has been crying for the past half hour because a promise made to < was broken and < doesn't feel cared about

That sucks to hear for < also. < really does hope ^5 will recover from this soon, that sounds like a hard pill to swallow. :(

It's great that ^5 is learning how to drive though, that's definitely something useful. :)

<‘s laptop crashed again without warning. < is used to it by now but it can still be kind of annoying.

< says it's a mix between business consultant and software engineer.
< doesn't want <'s information to be indexed by search engines but ^ can always PM < for more details.

< is glad that ^^ is enjoying their job.

< managed to fix LFS by reinstalling all of Xorg. < tested Xfce and seen it work, then < removed all of the KDE and Plasma references in the /usr/share folder, and to <'s amazement, < tried to boot Plasma and it came on! :D

< is glad the job seems to be going well for Humch!

Thanks! :D < got that happy about getting it working that < double posted by mistake, then decided to merge it with the other post instead when < noticed.

But yeah, < was right about it being conflicting files in the /usr directory then, since < originally tried to install KDE there and it didn't work. < had never removed those files from that installation, so they must have been causing conflicts. Even when < did remove them, < still needed to reinstall Xorg. What < basically had done to remove them was listed all the files recursively in /opt/kf5-5.70.0 (old version), and made the results be output to a text file (over 38,000 files). < then replaced every instance of "/opt/kf5-5.70.0" with "rm -rf /usr" and executed all of them, so it removed every single duplicate KDE file which existed in /usr.

< congratulates ^ on getting ^'s system working again! :D

Hunch''s new job reminds < of the training program < took last year, which was training < to be an engineer/programmer for the company (which is a consulting firm). < wonders how some of <'s old colleagues are doing from that class.
