How many known members of Rayman's Species exist in the 2-D Rayman games prior to Rayman Origins and what are their names?

Unknown number. Magician, Betilla can be part of the species. Globox and Teensies can be too but not for sure.

I have a feeling I spelt some of those names wrong.

A few are missing, including an obvious one. take note this is all 2D games prior to Origins. Also the teensies and Globox are definitely not a part of Rayman's species, and nor is Betilla (I'm not just asking for every character without limbs).

There's one missing from Plum's answer, and Ray, you'll have to be more specific and say when/where they appear ("List each time..."). Also, just mentioning 2D madness/nightmare instead of listing all elements within them is acceptable.
