Re: The You Game!
< just gave it a try.
Re: The You Game!
< was talking with the dev and they made a branch that was able to compile with rust 1.42.0. < is still having some issues getting it properly up and running, but the dev is helping < out with it.
< also got <'s new monitor yesterday.

Re: The You Game!
< is delighted to hear that, and about the monitor too!
< watched half of an anime film last night ("Kiki's Delivery Service"), had a call with Japanese suppliers this morning, happened to see an episode of "Murder She Wrote" set in Japan at lunchtime, and watched the second half of the film tonight. < wonders if this is the universe's way of telling < that < would have been in Japan on business this week were it not for the you-know-what.

Re: The You Game!
< managed to resolve the keyboard stuff, it works perfectly now!
< unfortunately has some issues with updating some LFS packages though.

Re: The You Game!
< took a break from the Rayman community in general to get away from things, do a little reflection, and practice coding, etc., and after a week, < is glad to be back! Well to RPC, at least.
As for the outside community, well....

Re: The You Game!
< had been working on Python again for the past few days too. < discovered some simple things that < didn't know about before. < will be able to implement each package as a single script instead of having to call a second external one this way, the only issue is that < will have to implement all of the external ones into the Python scripts. < could just leave it that way and only code future scripts the other way, but < thinks it would be more efficient to have each of them as one script.

Re: The You Game!
< is doing some work on the site at the moment.
Re: The You Game!
< wishes ^ luck with it. < is just working on the last few 64-bit packages for the Python scripts, and then < will implement all the external bash scripts into the Python ones instead. < still has to sort out the 32-bit ones at some stage, but < only needs a few of those for the likes of Steam, and possibly Wine.

Re: The You Game!
< has decided to poke around a bit into that invalid page fault that < got when trying to play Solitaire in <'s Win98 VM. < mounted the virtual hard drive and launched the same SOL.EXE using Wine, and it ran fine, so it seems Win98 itself is hosed somehow, or it just doesn't sit well on whatever virtual hardware QEMU is giving it.
< remembers getting similar weirdness when < tried to play Rayman inside that VM, something about MSCDEX being corrupt.
EDIT: So apparently SOL.EXE that ships with Win98 is 16-bit? That might be part of the reason for the problem, but < is now wondering how it was able to run on Wine, since <'s machine is 64-bit.

^ is reminding < about the fact that the pinball game from Windows XP works on Wine.

Re: The You Game!
< wonders if ^ is going to get around to making a sig for RPC's 17th birthday, since the placeholder text is still in ^'s signature.
After all, even < made one, although since it involved Tily, one could argue that that was worse than not making one!

Re: The You Game!
< seen James mention "Tily Together" in the recent Rayman Reanimated collab. Maybe it could be a future theme for April Fools day.

< isn't really keen on another Tily April Fools theme after 2015.

< thinks that you probably have a point here. Re: The You Game!
< couldn't get <'s computer to start all day, xorg was just failing with "caught signal 6". After spending hours reinstalling packages (including mesa), < decided to try an older version of mesa, by changing the link to "stable-systemd" for the package. < ended up with mesa 20.1.5 instead of 20.2.1, and when < ran "systemctl restart sddm", it worked. < wonders why the new version was added to BLFS if it doesn't work. < knows it's a development version, but still...
