< does wonder if many people will keep wearing masks "once this is all over" (if/when that happens). They were quite popular in Asia years before all of this…

< assumes most people won't want to since a lot of them won't even wear them now.

< was just struck by the irony that some people discouraging mask wearing now, are probably cut from the same cloth as those who once would have advocated tinfoil hat wearing :fou:

< even seen someone wear a visor instead of a mask one day, the ones that protect your face from being hit with stuff, but air still gets in beneath it clearly. :fou:

< knows those were more popular earlier on, before everyone started pointing out that air could clearly get out from underneath them! :P

< seen someone wear one at Tesco a week ago and just wondered what the point was when you can tell that it's not doing anything but acting as a sneeze guard. :P

< hates wearing masks so much, but < understands the need to wear them indoors, and even in crowded areas outdoors. Clearly, though, it's ridiculous if you're the only one in the street. :P

< really hates wearing them too. :P

< sees that the vaccine has been suspended in many European countries all of a sudden because under 40 people had blood clots out of 17 million. < assumes these clots are extremely likely to be unrelated, and that it's more likely they've been caused from inactivity (sitting around due to lockdown). It's very unlikely to be caused by the vaccine when you consider it's only about 0.0002%. < thinks it's stupid, since there's a much more likely chance of more people dying due do COVID in the meantime while they're suspending the vaccine to perform tests. :?

< agrees that COVID is still the greater threat here, so we're better off vaccinating people while we keep investigating the potential side effects.

< seen mentions of it on the news, and a reporter explained how he had about a 1 in 6000 chance of dying at his age should he get covid, but he said he has about a 1 in 800,000 chance of getting a blood clot (regardless as to whether it has anything to do with the vaccine), which makes it pretty clear that COVID is the greater threat by an extreme margin. The number of people getting clots is lower than you'd expect in general even with the vaccine out of the equation, so it's clearly hypochondriacs just panicking and saying it must be a side effect.

It does indeed sound to < like those clotting incidents, tragic though they were, were just some of that statistical noise that pops up now and again to annoy everyone. Pity though, given all the other FUD that already existed around that particular vaccine (AstraZeneca)…

On another subject, < wonders if anyone else notices that Barbara's clothing and figure are much more, ahem, modest than usual, in the Mister Dark mode image from Rayman Mini. :hap:

< says happy St. Patrick's Day if anyone here might celebrate it. < expects to hear stories later involving crowds of drunk people with police trying to break them apart due to COVID restrictions; it almost sounds like a given. < will have a few beers of course, but not to the point of being an eejit. :P

< also wishes everyone a Happy Saint Patrick's Day! < keeps forgetting this, but it's important to < not just because < is Irish, but because he's also the patron saint of Engineers! :D

< agrees, and a lot of people in the US celebrate it too. As for the stories, < heard there were already drunk people fighting in Dublin City by 2pm. Some things never change. :P

< doesn't understand why people get like that when it's supposed to be enjoyable, not just getting shit faced until you can't remember your own name and start throwing random punches.

<'s thoughts move to Kent Brockman's plea, "Is this what we think of… when we think of the Irish?" :fou:

< thinks that they more or less just make the stereotype look even worse when they start doing those things.

< would just have a few beers casually and just enjoy it without getting into fights, they say know the one that's one too many, not have about 10 more. :P

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
< found out today that it's a public holiday in Ireland since some of <'s colleagues who are based in Dublin were off.

Thanks! ☘️

< says this is true, though some people still have to work of course. Most of them probably want to just get home and open a beer, they'll be livid enough that the pubs are still closed. :P

Maybe… < wonders how human aging works in the Glade!

< was wondering if it had anything to do with those scandals, which related to sexism if < remembers correctly…

< sees that they decided to move ca-bundle.crt from "/etc/ssl/" to "/etc/pki/tls/certs/". < had to find out the hard way as to why ca-bundle.crt wasn't being created, only to find out it was being created elsewhere, and then < had to symlink "/etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt" to "/etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.crt" in order to make Steam work.
