< fairly recently came into possession of a Sansui SR-222 belt drive turntable which had been <'s grandfather's before. Despite being disused for decades, it seems to work pretty well
< didn’t know ^ had a turntable too! <’s pleasantly surprised <’s not the only one
< wonders what cartridge it has?

< needs to service <'s turn table, since it will need a couple of new capacitors and the potentiometer for the direct drive control to be cleaned up. A new stylus to give it a good quality of life upgrade, if not that and a decent cartridge.
< Has a Pioneer PL-5, to be specific.

< thinks it's amazing what some cheap capacitors can do. <'s brother had an original Xbox that wouldn't power on. They had assumed it was the power supply, but then < double checked and there was a lot of brown stuff leaking from the top of all these bulging caps near the CPU heatsink. It was only a few cent each for some caps, and when < soldered them in, the thing fired right up and was good as new again.

< says it's a Nagaoka MP-100.
< has been experimenting with getting the PC version of Rayman 1 to play the "MIDI" tracks from the PS1 version…
< has been considering deleting their account on the platform formerly known as twitter, even though < never really used it anyway

<’s curious on ^’s progress…
Speaking of ^’s site, < wonders if ^ uses Apache or nginx?

< has succeeded in making the "world loading" music play over the loading vignette on the v1.21 US version of Rayman! < is now coming up with ways to inject "Ambient Starter" entities into maps so tracks can be played in-game...
< uses OpenBSD's httpd for <'s site

Wow, awesome! < wasn’t aware it runs under OpenBSD

Yeah, < agrees with that. Sadly capacitors aren't always the cause of failures, but they certainly can be for aging equipment. Our retro game consoles definitely need the attention at this point.

< went to see Wicked today, and it was every bit as awesome as < had hoped!

< knew quite a few of the songs going in, but was delighted to finally hear them in context!

< recalls reading before that a lot of failing caps throughout the mid 2000s onward was mostly due to someone copying a formula that was wrong and mass producing it. So bad capacitors were basically mass produced and circulated for years.
