Oh that sounds fantastic!

< has two Spectrums at home, neither of which works

The first was <'s Dad's, and some cables broke in it when we tried to revive it one day. Then the second was bought on eBay, and < got some amusement out of it, until someone plugged it in by mistake and left it powered – keep in mind that it lived near the TV, and hence the fire, and this was around Christmas time – and so it overheated and died
< noticed this in the Transactions page:
< is pretty sure Jonster didn't calculate wrong, but just had an itchy Submit finger yet again

< recently got a 4 string tenor banjo. < has never played the banjo before in <'s life, but < ordered a set of strings and machine heads. < realised it was actually a banjo from a store in Galway, and of course, purposefully designed for Irish music. < didn't know that there is a different tuning for Irish banjo music either, but apparently there is. The strings were labelled as "D'Addario EJ63i 12-36 Nickel Irish Tenor Banjo String".
Of course, < had to start trying to play the Wild Rover and Rocky Road to Dublin on it, despite it being <'s first time playing one.

< isn't surprised to hear that Irish music uses special tuning, given that it evolved on the edge of the continent, and probably quite separately from other music that would be played on a banjo. < wonders how those first renditions of ^'s sounded

< was very surprised about it too. < was just expecting that it would be all the same, but then when < looked up the name on the banjo, it said Clareen Banjos, Galway. This lead < to discover the strings they sold had different tuning for Irish music.
< thinks that it was a bit difficult. < used to play guitar a lot, but < hasn't been doing that as of late. The banjo is still very different though. < feels like Wild Rover is a little different than how < was playing, it seems like there are different notes in the song, but < was playing the melody of the singer when < played it. Still sounded cool though. The Rocky Road to Dublin was a bit harder, but it definitely sounds harder to sing than to play on a banjo.
Overall though, < expected to be even worse at playing than < is.

< Still hasn't really completed the GPU server as of yet, but < is mostly waiting on a replacement cable at this point. < had gotten a spare server for specific power cables for the graphics cards, and sadly one of them were a melty boy, so < had reached out to the seller on eBay to get that resolved.
< will end up getting a few other things updated on <'s network as well, and < will definitely need to get a few things relocated, such as the primary battery backup for <'s main desktop. Get a few things re-routed for that, electrically, so < can properly route power through a wall to where the server rack lives.

It is <'s last week at work, and as a final gift one of the people < had personally hired decided to call it quits.
No shame on him, that place is a shitshow, but < still took ait a bit hard for reasons that are unclear to <.
