< drops by to say hello đź‘‹

< just finished reading Treasure Island. < was expecting something like a fanciful series of set pieces for children, but was very pleasantly surprised by a beautifully written novel grounded in reality. The characters are multi dimensional, developing throughout the story, and their relationships are complex and interesting. The language is beautiful and the imagery vivid, < can see how it had such a profound impact on our modern view of golden age piracy. < highly recommends it.

Also < now can't stop thinking in pirate speak, into the bargain and ye can lay to that!

Better late than never! < must admit < actually listened to an audiobook narration rather than read the pages, as < doesn't have the mental fortitude to read a book longer than a couple hundred pages without conking out. The audiobook came out to 6 and a half hours, so if you have a couple evenings to kill < couldn't recommend anything higher. < is now listening to the same narrator read Sherlock Holmes, the Sign of Four.
