I've been playing Silent Hill : Homecoming. I've been wanting to play these games for a looong time but I don't have a PS2... This one is quite good, but I haven't played it much yet. I've just defeated the first boss.

A GBA SP or an original Game Boy Advance with a link cable.
However... with a Game Boy Micro you need a specific link cable and anothe GBM.
I've been playing now Rayman Par Ses Fans.

I am completely and utterly stuck in Super Metroid. I haven't got a clue where I'm supposed to go. The complete nonlinearity of this game and the necessity to collect various power-ups throughout the maze-like environment make it very confusing... and I'm using a map.

Yeah, also there are points where if you go the wrong way you might be unable to get back...

I don't know if I should get the Metroid Prime Trilogy or not, I've never played Metroid before...
I'm currently solving the last puzzles in Professor Layton and Pandora's Box. They're so hard it's mean.

Almost finished MGS3 again. Awesome game, soon to move back onto MGS4

Yeah, I got a gamecube recently for MGS: Twin Snakes, and I've been looking for some good gamecube games to make it more worthwhile. I heard alot about Metroid Prime 1 and 2, and they're often at the top of best gamecube game lists, but I'm not sure what they're like in terms of gameplay/story...

I read some reviews on Gamefaqs and the only things I learned from them are that it's about shooting monsters, scanning environments and there's (some?) platforming in it.

Hehe, yeah, well I always base my game purchasing decisions on whether you can scan the environment or not, so very helpful there gamefaqs...

The Metroid Prime games are, imo, very good. It's a FPS but with elements of 3D platforming, and sometimes some thought and strategy is required.

I'm thinking about getting a Wii, but right now I'm very sceptical about the quality/number of good games out there. Is anyone able to suggest any titles that appeal to someone who likes good storyline and depth, intuitive gameplay, action/adventure/stealth/shooter etc. some exploration is good but no rpgs. Maybe platformers if they're really good but no Mario under any circumstances...???

Castlevania is a 2D platform game with a great story, and you fight with swords and all that.
You could try it, but it's HARD!!!
I like hard games btw.

Very good news, the original portal was fantastic albeit rather short. I'd love to see this franchise expanded, and maybe merged with the Half-life games...

Okami is absolutely awesome. Oh and TLOZ: Twilight Princess. And there's the Metroid Trilogy (and Metroid: Other M coming up.)
And I'm having Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon on my watchlist because I think it certainly looks interesting.
