"In" is usually short for "Inside" (eg. In the box) and "On" can be short for "On top of" (eg. On the table).

You're right, I was forgeting that "on" means "On top of". Thanks Acarr.

But how about eating popcorn sitted on the cinema's roof?

'Forehead' is one word. And that's not your forehead. That's your cheek. And 'later' has only one 't' in it.

Yes. I left the partyand went home a little while after getting the swirlys on my cheeks (it was at my school. Only a few blocks away). Then I went back to the party, which is when I got my third swirly. The one on my forehead.
