It makes a lot of sense in context you know. He could create anything? Yeah, right, he could create anything, but it would be totally implausible that The Subject would not start to connect things.

This was addressed specifically in the film. You don’t realise you’re dreaming until you wake up. Within a dream, everything and anything seems plausible. Some surreal and nightmarish dreamscapes would have been much more accurate and interesting than the coldly logical and mundane city, hotel, etc.

Right, but weird surroundings make the subconsciousness more suspicious.

Uh… I don't think so.
I had been very interested in dreams at a time, more precisely lucid dream, and I remembered very well some totally no-sense dreams. I've also been in a forum where dreams were shared. Well, most dreams are completely absurd, illogical, and fantasist, but… You hardly see it's a dream ! Really, I can dream of vampires, destruction of the earth, no-gravity places, wars, and recently "Super-motorcycle-propellant-pipe" (a pipe where motorcycles come inside to be propelled far far away in the airs, nice way to travel long distances), I don't realize at all that it's a dream !

I agree with spiraldoor (and Terry Gilliams has also made the same critic ^^). Inception is really an awesome movie, but… It is about dreams ! And the second part of the movie shows only action scenes.
Well, I find that the dream in the hotel is really good. A normal place that becomes more and more strange. This can actually be a dream…^^
But the two others… A city with a car fight, and a mountain with a military base. We're suppose to be deep in the subconscious, and we found a Hollywood action movie ! >< What about labyrinths ? What about the crazy effects in the first dream of the movie ? And paradoxes ? Come on, dreams allow so awesome things to be done ! Like flying, fight monsters, or discover some strange characters in strange places.
Hopefully, there is the last "dream", the "ultra-subconscious-land", where there is a lot of dreams aspects (memories, creations, reflect of the reality, etc…).

Inception is a good film about dreams, but there are more impressive and "dreamy" ones. Like Brazil, The Science of Sleep, or City of Lost Children (it isn't about dreams, but it's centered on the theme of nightmares).

Besides, the whole objective of the film’s protagonists is to implant an idea in Fischer’s mind – not to make him think that the dreams themselves are real. In fact, the second layer involved the ‘Mr Charles gambit’, where Cobb revealed to Fischer that he actually was in a dream in order to manipulate him into helping them. When Fischer wakes up on the plane at the end, he doesn’t remember the four dreams – just that his father wanted him to break up the company, which was a notion planted deep in his subconscious. How closely the dreams themselves resemble reality have nothing to do with it.

Thanks Itooh – I hadn’t heard Gilliam’s comments on the matter. He’s one of my favourite directors, mainly for Brazil, which is one of the best films I’ve ever seen. Other filmmakers who have successfully created dreamlike films are David Lynch, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Luis Buñuel and Federico Fellini (I know rattling off lists of foreign names makes me sound like a pretentious film student, but sadly that’s unavoidable). Christopher Nolan’s mind just doesn’t work that way. Even the most surreal sequence in Inception (the anti-gravity hotel) was explained logically by the overturning car in the first layer; there’s no hint of the incomprehensible, primal, fleeting, truly dreamlike style used by the directors I mentioned above.

My dreams usually involve odd mixtures of various people and places from popular fiction – films, television, books, games and whatever else I’ve been doing lately. Usually these are combined ridiculously with elements of my own life. You don’t really see that in films.

She wasn't exactly old. But the way she died and when she was found, those things just make me think. Not sure how to explain it. I guess I'm more curious about death than the paranormal.

Monster House sounds similar to Insidious.

So Johnny English Reborn didn't really make me laugh as much as the first one did, but all in all I enjoyed it. I especially like how his partner this time is actually somewhat enjoyable as a character, and not just the boring "normal guy" type like in the original.

I watched Ace Ventura 2. I think you'd have to be someone like me to find this entertaining instead of odd. From judging what others say about movies this is not one for all, certainly not for Spiral. I found it a very good movie though.

Speaking of Ace Ventura 2, that is probably the best sequel to a live action comedy I've seen so far.

EDIT: Actually, the beginning of Johnny English Reborn is surprisingly similar to Ace Ventura 2.

I watched The Prestige last night. It became excellently disturbing towards the end.

Ace Ventura 2 is actually a really good sequel. More disturbing then the first one.

It's not really a spoiler if you've watched the trailer.
