< also thought America genuinely got to 100°C back in the day before < learned about Fahrenheit. < personally finds that everything above 25°C to feel exactly the same as well.
Also, < always hears people say that Bri’ish people can’t handle a heatwave but there’s just… something about our heat that feels absolutely horrible. <‘s pals here from the British isles can back < up on this.

< thinks the issue is that the UK is a very moist island, heatwaves tend to come with very humid conditions, whereas the same temperatures in dry conditions are more tolerable.
< suspects air conditioning is going to become far more prevalent as time goes on, and not those silly swamp coolers which bothers < immensely when they're labelled as air conditioners.

As the following graphic will confirm, < will attest that we are no longer bro dawgs.

< has never heard of a swamp cooler before.
Edit: Ok < looked it up now, that sort of thing would suit <'s environment better since it's hot and humid around here.

It's the opposite, swamp coolers rely on evaporative cooling, whereby it needs to evaporate water to achieve a cooling effect. If the air is humid, it's already saturated with water, thus evaporative cooling isn't effective. It's why < gets annoyed because < sees a lot of adverts for "air conditioners" which are in fact evaporative coolers, which don't work as well here.
Actual Air Conditioners on the other hand, use a refrigerant, and can also dehumidify, hence why < thinks they're the more appropriate solution, problem is that they're more expensive...
At least that's <'s understanding of the matter. < Suspects Plum probably understands this better than <, given their scientific background.

< always found the aversion to the term moist kinda funny, < has no gripes with the term itself, but < finds it does have a fascinating mouth feel xD

< says you're correct about air conditioners. The refrigeration cycle means that two units are usually needed, one indoor to do the cooling, and one outdoor to dump the heat. And a lot of ducting and installation work…
Swamp coolers on the other hand, < had not heard of…

< is starting to get kind of bored lately. < enjoys programming as a hobby and often contributes to open-source projects, but < is starting to think < needs to get into something career wise regarding it. < isn't even sure where to start, especially these days where it's likely going to become increasingly hard to get into the field. < wonders if < should be looking into certain further qualifications for now, maybe even databases as < heard it's important to have this for nearly anything in the field. At least < would feel like it's progress to be studying again.
< often ends up writing things with C# lately, but < is wondering what actually makes the most sense overall to get into. Maybe continuing with little qualification stuff for now to progress towards something still makes the most sense. < doesn't really want to go get a job doing something < won't enjoy such as working at a store etc.

< Says a fun fact is if you do the reverse, you effectively have a heat pump for the cold seasons.
< says we have had some portable swamp coolers at work in the workshop, which like Master said, are pretty much useless when it's already super humid out, but in the dry weather, they're actually useful.

Quite so, < knows we've been having a Heat Pump push here, but it's not taking very well alas.
<'s currently watching the DK Bananza direct, < was interested in the game and would probably get it at some point anyways, but it's turning out to be even more compelling than < thought. It feels like they've combined elements from Mario Odyssey and BoTW.

< Can't help it, < thinks it's worth it. < Actually does enjoy the new Mario Kart World game as well. < Really hadn't enjoyed Mario Kart since Double Dash on the Gamecube.
