Re: List of ranks

Oh noes, it’s still like that! The ranks and the gender are still being randomized!
Heh, Hunchman succeeded then! I thought it was pretty neat that we got to have various ranks each time.Xenon wrote:I noticed the funny ranks yesterday when I visited the forum. At first I thought lots of people had donated tings, then I realised...
I guess I was kinda fooled...
Exactly. The limit's the sky.rolesfamily wrote:It must take a good few years to get that many posts.
Would you also suggest that we start giving gold medals to the first ten at the Olympics? Once again, the top ranks are not meant to be accessible to everyone. Only a handful will ever make it there, after years of participating.rolesfamily wrote:I think the gold (as you describe it) should be more accessible.
It took them years to earn all those Tings, how unfair would it be if it were so easy for a newcomer to reach the same level in a few months?rolesfamily wrote:I still think a lot of people are out of touch here because they've been members here for years and have earned all their tings, so it doesn't seem like a problem to them.
The forum isn't the same anymore. It's a lot less active, honestly there's no need to have higher standards. We're not ubisoft, we can control this. May as well let everyone enjoy and access the better stuffHunchman801 wrote:Exactly. The limit's the sky.rolesfamily wrote:It must take a good few years to get that many posts.

I work out but I don't expect to be a champion one day. Does it make it pointless? I don't think so.

Maybe I've interpreted this wrong.Shrooblord wrote:Pfft it's just as active as it ever was, bar Record Days.
No, it's true. In fact, around the time you joined was one of the most active time the board's ever seen.rolesfamily wrote:Maybe I've interpreted this wrong.Shrooblord wrote:Pfft it's just as active as it ever was, bar Record Days.
Admittedly this isn't always a very difficult forum to contribute on, sometimes it is. But I'm part of other forums that are much harder to post on. I think that's fair to say I'm seeming obsessive about the ranks at the moment :p - I'm quite an obsessive person! I know that ranks aren't everything, it's just that it's a really nostalgic element which I really connect to. Back on the old RZ I always loved the original rank list, and I remember as a kid really enjoying working my way through them. That's what it is for me, a real nostalgic thing.Xenon wrote:You'd be surprised at how easy tings actually are to come by. They're not just gained through submitting posts. Many of our members earn more tings on record day than they do in a year's posting.
Don't take this the wrong way, but you seem quite obsessive about them at the moment. The most enjoyable part of the rank list is working your way through the avatars, climbing up the ranks. You'll find that when (if ever) you reach the top ranks, tings will become less valuable and you'll be far less enthusiastic about collecting them.
Hah, well that's a good thing! This is what I like about this place, every time I come up with a theory (which is usually incorrect) I get proven wrong. That's good, because I want to be wrong when I make statements about this place.Adsolution wrote:No, it's true. You could of made an awesome pun there man!Hoodcom wrote:RaymanPC is a community that is very easy to have various conversations on, despite it being based on Rayman himself and the series. The layout is clean and simple, easy to navigate. I wouldn't change a thing, honestly.

I understand where you're coming from. Raymanzone was a great forum in its day and the Lums Quest was a really cool feature. The problem was it was rather spammy and quite poorly managed, as I'm sure you can remember. The way I see it, slightly less activity is the price we pay for a more tidy, sustainable and interesting forum. :)rolesfamily wrote:Admittedly this isn't always a very difficult forum to contribute on, sometimes it is. Yeah it was defiantly spammy, considering I was back on there when I was just a silly (but friendly!) kid! Like the mega noob from hell. It still taught me a hell of a lot about forums though, even if I wasn't any good. Yeah that's what I used to rank up, the refresh glitch. I was at the Andre rank and I kept doing that till I hit Mr.Dark. All I wanted was to hit the Razorbeard rank, but then I got busted before I hit it. Which sucks.Xenon wrote:I understand where you're coming from. Raymanzone was a great forum in its day and the Lums Quest was a really cool feature. Plus, while the Lums Quest was awesome, it was pretty vulnerable to cheats and hacking. I remember, in some detail actually, the discussion we had about using the refresh cheat to gain 5 Lums to reach better avatars. Do you remember that?
I guess, looking back, this is correct. However, I remember it as active as it is now, which was about when I joined (for real, not when I posted the R3 savegame thing xP), I believe.Adsolution wrote:No, it's true. Yeah and I totally get what you mean, and I'm 100% down for that but sometimes I just feel the other side of this place sometimes and it's the complete opposite ;P - It's also a time thing, it's bound to be. Getting to know people on a site, building a bond. You can't always expect to get along with everyone. I've been part of some forums for years and there's plenty of people that I'm just 'friends' with but not very close. That's just the way of the world. Well activity comes and goes due to people's lives 'nd such. The place I'm on gets more active in the summer months just because some of them are in education and get a break then. Either way, it's bound to be intermittent. It's kinda sad though, since forums are only going one way. - And that's down. It's a shame.Shrooblord wrote:I guess, looking back, this is correct. This place comes paired with waves of activity and inactivity - like a sinoid, really. I guess media hype from the Rayman franchise (think Origins, Legends) contributes to this. Also Record Day is a good Google bumper.
But what I really like about the RPC is that we're all a group of, dare I say it, friends! And I use the word cautiously, because, in the end, we're all behind our computer screens and not many of us actually know each other in real life, so it's not definitive that when you like what you read from a person, you'll also like who they are ... but I digress - people come here to look for others to talk to and they find people they really like, and naturally, sometimes people they really don't. However, it's a community and while some may leave from time to time, they will eventually stroll around back to this place in time (I'm looking at myself as a prime example, neo, Hoodcom, even Hunch, it seems) - and some users like just reading posts and not saying anything in return. And all of that is absolutely fine; we're incredibly tolerant for a bunch of people, which, sadly, usually isn't the case.
I guess what I mean to say is, come join us, people, and be nice and friendly - it's the RPC's heart-felt motto, its essence, even.
