After all the efforts < made to stay up longer, < tried sleeping earlier. This somehow worked and < got up at a normal time. Man, what a wasted effort the past few days.

Yeah < didn't really think there was going to be another one, but then < decided to join it. It was after 7:30AM in <'s timezone before < went to bed though, that's dime zones for you.

Ah, the joys of a computer relocation project for the office for <'s parents to use. The optical display port run works flawlessly, but apparently the Icron device < needed supports only USB 3.0, even with USB 3.0 monitor hubs and is absolutely not USB 2.0 or lower backwards compatible.

So sadly, < has to get the more expensive version that will allow < to expand over fiber so the damn mouse and keyboard will simply work.



So the Icron Raven 3124 will be the device of choice in this specific situation.

<'s never come across a USB-Fibre octocoupler before, < wonders what the latencies may be versus a direct connection, or if it's negligible?

< believes it's usually negligible. < probably could have done it over Cat6 or better wiring, but the fact is that the fiber was already ran from the understairs closet, into the crawl space, and into the office. < probably should have ran Cat6 with the run just in case. But what can ya do?
