When it happens I get a really strange feeling, it's like feeling nervous for something, but many times stronger. But when I stop thinking about it I always feel better than before, especially when I'm depressed. It's like I had my portion of dark thoughts and then it's time to let that go again.
I often think like that too. I wonder, if you won't be able to think, breathe, or even think after death, just turn into a restless being who wants to sleep for the rest of eternity! I mean, I am catholic, but I doubt about actually having a final Judgement day, or having to go to hell or heaven, I don't believe in such places, they seem way to perfect for me. then I think, maybe heaven is a better world than earth, but everybody lives equal, but are probaly not very attractive, because of how they died(like a really bad accident). I heard on tv this family didn't mourn for their husband/father, because they KNEW that they would meet with him in heaven, but I think differently. I'd rather enjoy the time my dads here and mourn when he dies, because I don't think I'd meet with him in heaven.

I wanna enjoy my life before dying. That's why I'm often (but not always, I'm sometimes depressing...) positive about life. My grandmother died in january, I didn't cry, cause I know I'll die too one day. But I often think about death... and I wonder : What happens after death ?
Actually, I look at life like that too, I'd rather have all the fun I can now, because at any moment I could die, and I rarely cry, for example, when my aunt died, I didn't cry, but I was sad, and I wanted to cry. Then, I felt guilty for not crying, because its like I'd didn't even cry about my aunts death, and I was shocked!! She had breast cancer, and she could talk when she was first in the hospital, but a month later, she wasn't even awake. but here is a weird thing: I sometimes can predict what happens by accident, like this-
"I bet the lights would go out any second now" then seconds later, they went out. I'm not psychic, its just weird when I say those things like that. The day she died, I said "Iliana(my sister), lets visit her, what if she dies today!?" I really feel bad about saying that, even though it has nothing to do with her dying(I mean it wasn't the cause, but I'm sorry I said that). The only time I did cry was when I thought about my loved ones dying, but just not saying anything, with tears coming down my cheek.

What a happy topic...
You shouldn't think about death, although you know it'll happen one day... Just enjoy your life day by day, and the presence of the ones you love...
I'm Catholic, and I'm sure there's something after death... I couldn't say what, hell and heaven are just symbols in my mind, but it should be something... My Dad passed away suddenly 4 months ago, and although I miss him a lot and I'm extremely affected, I still feel his presence, I still hear him talking to me... I think about death like a long trip, and I hope I'll meet him again one day, somewhere...

personally i'm trying not to think about death, actually, is there a reason? death's like when you are asleep, but forever, and you'll be very lucky to have a dream.

:D

Seems like your favourite expression out of the famous two is 'carpe diem'. That's okay with me. But death shouldn't be ignored. Too many people just want to search pleasure in life while it's impossible because life is misery for the biggest part. That can make me very angry. That's why I choose to follow both 'carpe diem' and 'memento mori'. I have space in my heart for both.

About some kind of afterlife: Of course I can't be sure that something like that doesn't exist, but I really want to say that it is not very likely it exists.

Jona is right, You can't ignore death, because it happens everyday. It is a part of the life cycle. you get born, you live, then you die.

Also something I think of sometimes regarding death is this... that we face terrible options by living. Either dying and never facing consciousness again, or living forever. But only one of the options probably applies to us. Now I wonder, what would you choose if you had the choice?

I do not really think about death. My dream is to be immortal. I'm not scared but a happy life is better prolonged... foverer.

But life isn't exactly happy. The biggest part of it is misery, you just have to want to admit it. And would you really want to live forever? Just deeply think about it, it's not exactly as nice as it might sound...

Then again, thoughts can vary from time to time y'know. If your a lifeless person who has, well, no life then you would want to die. If your a billionare and life is as good as it gets, also being a greedy bastard, then you'd want to live longer. Mainly so that no one steals your money and riches.

It depends on you... and a bit on luck.

More luck than wisdom.

And dying is worse if you had a good life too.

*sigh*

Well, once dead, you don't exist anymore (unless you believe in heaven :|), maybe it's the end, but you shouldn't care about it. The only problem is that a few people might be sad... :P

It happens to everyone and it's unavoidable, but sometimes the thoughts I have about it freak me out. I get a really weird feeling when it happens. I think about like how when I die, the whole universe will go on, until someday it all stops... perhaps... but when it stops, will there be nothing left? Just an infinite black void? Room for something, but there just isn't anything, and it goes on infinitely? And for what time? And will it start over again, and what point does it have?

It's just weird...
