Well to know that, you need to see a specialist for it. That's all know, since its the only way to confirm it.

I don't remember when or how I was screened, now that I think about it...

Non.

When I was kid my parents were afraid I might have autism (I didn't say a word until when I was 4 y.o., I tended to "turn off" very often and had frequent panic attacks). According to them, they did some tests, and they found out that besides diagnosed neurosis there was no reason to worry. To blame was one of my sisters, and her fucked up babysitting method.

I see. As for now then I am unsure.

I am believed to have OCD, but was never tested for such, and only appear to have most of the common symptoms. I'm still not entirely sure if OCD is on the Autistic Spectrum as many have analyzed that persons with OCD usually have other Autistic conditions, and persons have also been said to have OCD exclusively.

No, I don't think having OCD makes you Autistic.

Nay, OCD is not related to autism.
ZeptoRay wrote:Why the hell did the people from the autism building thing I was going to said that Tourrette Syndrome was autism. :mefiant: Well now i'm learning.
They often overlap in the sense that it's not uncommon for someone with Tourette's to have autism as well, and vice versa. There's quite a stark difference between the two, however:

A person with autism lacks an actual understanding of certain aspects of sociality which would be inherently understood by people without it; it's basically the lack of a certain human instinct. The autistic person can learn these things on their own however to make them second-nature. Since humans are artistic beings that like to explore areas outside their natural instinct far more than other animals, having fewer of these inherent instinctual traits are why many autistic people are seen as unusually creative.

Tourette's on the other hand doesn't imply a lack of understanding in anything, it's speculated to relate to the brain misfiring motor information, resulting in the nearly reflex-esque urge to tic. They can be controlled, but the difficulty varies, and it's directly comparable to controlling a reflex. If you're able to not pull back if you accidentally touch a hot stove, then congratulations, you'd likely be able to control Tourette's tics quite easily. Mine sort of couples itself with OCD in that if I choose to suppress a tic, I'll eventually need to let it out or I'll become extremely uncomfortable and clouded in the head.

Though, like many disorders, the thing they do have in common is that they're both related to human instinct. In the case of autism, it's the lack of certain aspects of social instinct; in the case of Tourette's, it's your reflex instinct constantly misbehaving.

Ah, well that explains way much more than what they said to the whole class when they were explaining what I had and what a classmate that had Tourrette had. They way they explained it was pretty bad.

Not diagnosed, but pretty sure I have a mild case of OCD. I often get compulsions to keep objects in certain positions or go back and examine things I've walked past. I always feel like these compulsions are going to take root in my mind and drive me insane if I ignore them, but they always disappear a few seconds after I do.

It's a similar case with me if I'm trying to suppress a tic while doing something else. If I'm just sitting, reading, walking or whatnot, the urge does not want to disappear. If I'm performing or doing something (usually physically) active, then I find it much easier to ignore, and the urge will disappear shortly. It's likely because my physical immersion more than compensates for the need to exhibit that particular tic.

I have the exact same thing. Also often feel the need to touch certain objects.

Ah, I'm not sure if I'm autistic or not, but I do know I have OCD.

Sometimes there are objects not in the right place and I feel the need to put them back where they are or I feel greatly annoyed. Or if there is a red skittle in a bunch of any other colors it also annoy me, but I have no idea why.

I think I have OCD as well? I sort things in colour and/or alphabetical order, wash my hands very frequently, and have aversion to any numbers that aren't divisible by 10, 5 or 3.

Don't force me to create an OCD topic too!

Nah, but I think most of those feelings are normal for many people. OCD is a bit tougher to diagnose, since it almost entirely relies on the severity of the disorder.

I kinda stress out on little things too. I don't like soles touching any clothing, I was my hands frequently, my things must be kept organized, and well...that's all I can remember at the moment.

I have ADHD, or ADD, tbh I'm not sure it's a real thing that can be defined but it got me extra time in exams so I ain't complaining.
My philosophy is to make the most of it, and use it as a positive thing :)
