Though all in all, their computer usage is limited enough that a lack of tech spec knowledge wouldn't really negatively affect them in the PC market, as they often don't need power. Though that still means they make some pretty silly statements which show their ignorance in the subject.
Yes, but you shouldn't argue with someone who does, besides jokingly. My friend and I started laughing when we heard that stupid statement.
EDIT: An exact log of a live IM chat I had with a Sony "tech support" agent. Perhaps I could have been a bit friendlier, but I don't really find any excuse for this level of ignorance--well, at least he tried...ish.

Hi . Welcome to Sony Online Support. My name is Marcus. Please allow me a moment to review your concern.
10:27 PM Customer:
Hi.
10:28 PM Customer:
Are you still there?
10:28 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
I still looking at your problem description.
10:28 PM Customer:
OK.
10:28 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
So i understand you want to disable keyboard protection feature correct.
10:29 PM Customer:
Si.
10:29 PM Customer:
I did at one point but forgot how to.

10:29 PM Customer:
*did it
10:30 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
One moment.
10:31 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
Well! i am not getting exactly you problem description, do you want to disable the keyboard completely.
10:31 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
May i ask in detail the problem you are facing.
10:32 PM Customer:
This may take a while. One second.
10:35 PM Customer:
The "feature" I am looking to disable is the one that temporarily disables the touchpad as you are typing, that is, the one that is intended to prevent unintended movements of the cursor, but really ends up being a major annoyance.

I want to able to use the touchpad for PC games, which is near impossible to do at the moment.
10:37 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
We can disable and enable the touchpad by using FN key +F1.
10:39 PM Customer:
*facepalm* No, I mean the feature that will stop the touchpad from working as I am pressing buttons on the keyboard. I know how to enable/disable the touchpad, screen, etc., but I want to know how to disable this feature, possibly somewhere in the settings for this specific touchpad?
10:40 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
Or you can disable the touch pad for while in device manager.
10:41 PM Customer:
Please read what I am typing before you respond. I DON'T WANT TO DISABLE THE TOUCHPAD. I want to disable the feature that locks it when I am pressing keys on the keyboard.
10:45 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
Lets try this, go to control panel select hardware and settings open mouse and check if there is settings which says hid cursor while typing.
10:47 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
Open Mouse in Control Panel.
10:47 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
On the Pointer Options tab, under Visibility, select the Hide pointer while typing check box.
10:47 PM Customer:
I sincerely hope you don't mean the "hide pointer while typing" option. I mean the touchpad will COMPLETELY LOCK.
10:48 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
Guess there is no option that locks the touchpad by default while tying.
10:48 PM Customer:
As in, I will press the "W" key and try to adjust my camera with the touchpad, and it will not reigster.
10:48 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
typing.
10:51 PM Customer:
No, I am saying that the option is ALREADY ENABLED. Pretty certain it exists since I am trying to get rid of it. I was able to disable it on my old laptop, but not on my new one, since I forgot how to. If you don't know, just tell me.
10:52 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
How you did that on your old laptop?
10:52 PM Customer:
I--DON'T--REMEMBER. -_-
10:53 PM Marcus - (C5BW):
We are not getting to the point you are trying to do, so guess you need to remember what exactly you did with the old PC.
10:56 PM Customer:
I was hoping you would know, as you are in tech support. I know you are not a psychic, but still, this is a basic feature that it seems like you should know about, though I guess that is laptop-specific. I'm not sure how your latest post isn't anything I couldn't have figured out on my own. Bye then.
