Or maybe Rayman dreamed that he lived in a virtual world made by a human boy named Jimmy.

So Rayman dreamed of Jimmy who dreamed of Polokus who dreamed a world which was virtual to Jimmy.

That sounds like a bizarre crossover between Rayman, Inception and the Matrix.

Indeed, it is rather mindboggling to put that one together, isn't it?

It's to do with the original scenario for Rayman 1, where the world of Rayman was made by a boy called Jimmy, who named the world, Hereitscool, he jumps into his world and becomes Rayman when Mr. Dark threatens it.

Thank god that was dropped.

What if the Valley is actually called the Valley of Hereitscool, but it's inhabitants insist on only calling it 'the Valley' because Hereitscool is a stupid name?

Then why was it called Hereitscool in the first place?

Because somebody got to name it and did a really bad job.

Yeah, see how silly that sounds? They stick to just calling it 'The Valley'.

Yep, it's simple, not confusing and not just plain dumb.

Maybe 'Hereitscool' really was a name made up by a ten-year old, like, one day the Valley people were like
"What should we call this place?"
"I dunno, let's find someone to name it. Yeah, how about this random kid right here. Hey kid, what's this Valley called?"
"Uh..... Here-it's-cool!"
"Hereitscool......? Damnit."

For a valley that has a supposed metropolis of artistry, they do seem to be lacking in imagination.

Well, they used up all the creativity on everything else so the names turned out bland.

Also, I do quite like 'The City of Images' as an alternate name for Picture City.

Hey! I just thought of something! What if the Valley was actually created by Jimmy when he was five (hence the dumb name)? And when he turned ten, he realized it was dumb but kept the name anyway because of the sentimental value it and the Valley had for him.

Jimmy had the ability to travelback and forth between the real world and his valley through mental astral projection,He got.this ability when he was ten, and kept doing it as he progressed to and through adulthood. Eventually he had a son named Rayman (!!!) and told.him about this world and everything he could do.in it, in case Rayman could ever go to the Valley someday.

One fateful day, Jimmy and Rayman were in a horrible crash and were dying. Through a dying wish made by Jimmy, his son's soul was saved and tranfered into the Valley permanently. And thus, he became the Rayman we know of!

(I also like to think that Jimmy made the Valley dwellers with extendable hands.because he was jealous of not being able to reach anything, being young and short.)

Thanks! I also like to think that the four main characters were made up characters of Jimmy's childhood friends. The idea of Rayman that his son became was made by Jimmy, Betilla was made by his friend Tina (who he had a crush on; which is why Betilla became sort of like a mother to Rayman.), Mister Dark was made by their friend David (they were young, so hence the uncreative name), and the Magician was made by their friend Andrew
(which is why Andrew and the Magician are "cousins".)

Maybe that's why Picture City looks like the inside of a school desk. Because they were kids. And maybe Jimmy ended.up marrying Tina, which is why Betilla became Rayman's Valley mother.
