I can relate, Oddworld scared me a bit too, but I still played it. I only never beat it since it was too hard for me at the time, I'm not the best with puzzles and precision.

Cool. I will get remake on Steam Day one.

Also, topic wise, I dunno how much this can be considered overrated because some other Mario fans disliked it as well (but I found some who like it) but I really didn't like Paper Mario Sticker Star.

Did anyone?

I actually remember talking about the game with some friends awhile back, we were all talking about how we hated it.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It's almost scary how much the combat in that game pissed me off.

The original Far Cry. I don't get why this game receives so much praise, nor do I get this game, period. I honestly think that it's one of the worst attempts at creating a first-person shooter I have ever witnessed. The story makes little sense, the voice acting is beyond cringe-worthy, the level order is a completely incoherent mess, and the AI and level design are fucking annoying. The large majority of 'cover' in this game are things either too small to be useful in more than one specific angle, or too thin, and the over-exaggerated bullet penetration renders it absolutely useless. Somehow, the AI can usually see you through walls as well.

In one particular occurrence in which I got stuck on one single checkpoint for two and a half hours, I simply had to make my way inside a large tent to collect a weapon to kill everyone. So I sneak into the tent, and then either before or after I pick up the weapon, suddenly a barrage of bullets will start flying at me through the walls, killing me after only a couple of seconds. Getting passed it eventually was a sole streak of luck.

This game is total ass. Crysis is better in every single way imaginable. How Crytek managed to go from having made one of my most despised FPS games to one of the greatest ones ever created in just one step I have no idea.

I remember I tried Far Cry when visiting my older brother once and I found it ok I guess but it is far from masterpiece.

I don't believe they did this in one step. There were a few sequels to the original Far Cry that predate Crysis, and Far Cry 2. I had one of them - Far Cry Instincts: Predator. I remember it being a very solid game, but it was released way back in 2005, so needless to say, it's been a while since I've played it.

I believe Far Cry Instincts is like a half port half remake of Far Cry 1 released for Xbox

"Far Cry Instincts: Predator" includes a redone Far Cry 1 (which was Far Cry Instincts), the sequel "Far Cry Instincts: Evolution", and other new features, all done on the Xbox 360 (the original Instincts was on the Xbox). It greatly improves on the original Far Cry, though, and would be the explanation as to how they went from Far Cry 1 to Crysis, despite the former being a mess.

Perhaps maybe different people from Crytek worked on Crysis.

THEY SUCK! my opinion though.
Mortal Kombat is extremely overrated, but Street Fighter and Tekken? The only really overrated Street Fighter game was SF II, which I still love, but it's extremely overrated.

Anyways interesting topics. I think I can share my thoughts.

The Call of Duty Franchise: We can all agree that this is an extremely milked franchise, with unbalanced online, campaign, etc.

Grand Theft Auto V: Now I'm really excited to play GTA V when it comes out on PC, and I'm in no way saying it's bad, but it's ridiculously overhyped/overrated. And it's far from what I'd call 'Game of The Year'.

Super Mario 64: Super Mario 64 set the standard of what all 3D platformers should be like, and that's what made it so revolutionary, I still love the game to this day. But god damn is it overrated, games like Sunshine and Galaxy barely get any attention due to this overshadowing them when I found those to be much better games. In addition, Super Mario 64 DS is the best looking version, and even that gets overshadowed due to all the N64 fans.

Sonic Adventure 2: I loved this game, undoubtedly. But at the same time I remember the game having so much flaws that I just couldn't get over. The incredible high-speed action always would get broken up by a boring emerald hunting level or shooting level, it really broke the pace of the games. And the most overrated part of the game- the Chao Gardens. I did enjoy these as a time killer, but I hear people saying they'd rather play these than the actual game, which really confuses me.

Mortal Kombat: I absolutely can not stand this whole series. The bland and incredibly generic characters, the over the top 'gore' which attracts so much people to it. Mortal Kombat always stamps over Street Fighter because of its massive over the top gore. Now I still have yet to play Mortal Kombat 9, but from what I've played of MKII on the Genesis, I'd much rather play Street Fighter. Street Fighter is one of my favorite fighting games of all time for many reasons, I can use the characters as a prime example. Progressing through Arcade mode you'll grow to see how these characters personalities develop and how they truly want to accomplish their goal, it makes you want to progress knowing how hard these fighters are working. Mortal Kombat's characters have always been the exact definition of shallow. I am a huge fighting game fan, I love Street Fighter, King Of Fighters, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Dead or Alive, Tekken, but no matter what you do, you can never get me to be a fan of Mortal Kombat. It's the most overrated game in the fighting community and I find it sad that people choose MK over Street Fighter because MK has is more 'violent'. Whileas Street Fighter actually focuses largely on a much more balanced fighting system, and character development.

Am I the only one who absolutely despises Chao Garden in every Sonic game? I think of it as a waste of disc space.

I agree with Sonic Adventure 2 being overrated, but I completely understand why people would rather play the Chao Garden than the actual game, as I'm sort of in that mindset - the rest of the game is very shallow and lacks polish in a lot of areas, and besides the treasure hunting stages which are just tedious, it lacks exploration. The Chao Garden is like, the exact opposite. It's one of the deepest and most complex pet sims out there, if not the deepest ever. I really feel it deserves it's own downloadable game on modern devices.

you guys might hate me for this one but....half life 2
i really cant like it in most ways, gameplay is preety basic, enemies too, gordon freeman is just a silent character that doesnt act in anyway with others,he just stares, the storyline was so damn confusing
I really preffer the first one, since it was more challenging, the weapons were somewhat varied and, really the storyline was much easier to understand
