Use Google Translate, I think you want to read that.
One of my New Year Resolutions is to pass all the subjects of the 2nd year of my course with no reprovals. Not that things are going bad, but I am mostly worried for one subject and would really like to not have anything left behind by the month of July.
Re: New Years Resolutions
Bump:
- Cure my jaw, knee and elbow
- Take up a martial art or similar physical/social activity assuming I manage to get ^ done
- Eat more and and eat healthier
- Have a kickass garden in summer
- Get better at piano and guitar
- Stop dwelling on the past and worrying about the future, live in the present and learn to appreciate every moment
Never really done resolutions before. Will check this topic in a year to see how I perform.

Re: New Years Resolutions
Here are a couple for me:
- Find a serious tabletennis buddy or coach to play with to actually improve at the sport
- Become fitter from healthy eating and a good exercise regime
- Go on a nice sunny holiday with a beach, whatever the cost
Hopefully they're achievable.

Re: New Years Resolutions
I have several resolutions : one mandatory, the others optionnal (thus likely to be dropped on January 2nd)
Mandatory : GET A FUCKING JOB!!!
Optionnal : - Lose weight
- Start running
- Up the production of my Youtube channel in order to be the very famousest like no one ever was
- Stop using horrible words like "famousest" as a means to a joke.

Re: New Years Resolutions
Mine is really general but the only thing i'm really hoping for that isn't obvious like job hunting is to finally feel like i'm in control, which is not just like being completely independant but feeling like I can control myself emotionally (at least to a point where i'm satisfied I can control it enough). There's also just the satisfaction of being proud of something i've done, like actually feel satisfied of something and not be like "Yeah I did that and it was p good I suppose".
I don't tend to do the reolution stuff but I suppose I have that which is close enough to one.

So....
- Improve my physical condition, I need more muscle.
- Restart Kung-Fu.
- Make a holster for my machete.
- Improve the image people have of me, as a matter of fact I build it but it needs some improvements.
- Finally find a way to confess my feelings for her without looking like a psycho.

Re: New Years Resolutions
Last year I decided to work on my social skills and learn more about myself and who I wanted to be, both of which I did successfully.
This year I'm working on :
-Being more honest to myself and others, and not just going with the flow to avoid conflict.
-Showing more of my feminine side
-Moving away from the punk persona that many people see me for
-Being less impulsive
-Swearing less/ Stop using degrading language, especially gender related ones.
-Continue to improve my artwork/buy a Wacom tablet to go digital, since trying to buy a Cintiq isn't going to be affordable anytime soon.
My goals are lengthy to say the least, but I know that I can achieve them if I put my all into it!

Re: New Years Resolutions
- Complete schoolwork on time. For years I've been falling behind on my exams/assessments, I'll try to not let that happen for the upcoming second semester.
- Gain muscle weight. Every time I have tried to do a routine of lifting weights and push-ups, I abruptly stop after awhile. This year it's gonna be different.
- Get an under-the-table job. This would only be for the first half of the year before I can apply for a job in the summer. So far I've been unsuccessful in finding one or two, but I will talk to some people I know well about helping them in outside work and cleaning inside their homes.
- Save money. Instead of spending my money fairly quickly, this year I will save it up to hopefully rent an apartment in 2019.
- Don't interrupt people. Sometimes I tend to interrupt people I have discussions with. I've improved that recently, but I want to make sure it becomes rare.
Re: New Years Resolutions
Let's see how I fared two years ago :
- Go out more. Not necessarily meet new people, but over the past two years I've grown isolated with only my cat as a sign of company. As it turns out, being 15km removed from a big city is pretty much quarantine from civilization and it gets quite lonely in there. Need to remedy that and follow the few pals I have when they go party.
- Get a better job. It's no secret that I'm working for a bunch of crooks who arbitrarily amputate my salary (because lol, underpaying your employees is fun), so I'm looking for a place where I'm considered as a human being. Things may be looking up at the end of the month, and there is also the qualification for the army that I'll partake in for the third and final time that will take place between march and may
- Continue producing for my channel, maybe opening up new ideas for the US market. I've been producing written content for r/nyjets this season ('coz I'm a fan and shit) and I'm pondering the idea of expanding into a video series. Also maybe a cinema channel in english about presenting french movies. Rumor has it that I'll upgrade my camera pretty soon (it's not up to me, though), and I'm excited about the prospect.
- Crack the elite of american football in France. So far, I've failed to meet the level of play needed to play D1 football with my team and I'm relegated to reserve squad for the season's opener. There always the possibility of cracking up the roster due to injuries but I'd rather work hard and earn my spot on the elite squad.
- Stay in touch with former friends. There's always the truest of the true friends with which you never lose contact, but I've lost contact with former pals of engineering school and military school, some of which I really look up to. The pattern is always the same for me : "Ooh, I should give him/her a call" --> six months later "Nah, I'll just be bothering". It's time to change all of that because some of them I really miss.
- Keep the cat happy. Because there has to be one resolution I can do, right?
So let's go for 2018, shall we? My resolutions are (in no particular order) :Pirez wrote:Mandatory : GET A FUCKING JOB!!! <-- Check, although it brought more disappointment than envisioned

- Up the production of my Youtube channel in order to be the very famousest like no one ever was <-- Production has gone up (in quality and quantity) but fame has not resulted
- Stop using horrible words like "famousest" as a means to a joke.<-- Can neither check nor uncheck

I had that in London where I was a bit far from the center and I ended up going out a lot less. Now I've moved to Paris I've gone for a much more central flat.Pirez wrote:- Go out more. Good luck with that. What was their excuse to deduct money from your salary?Pirez wrote:- Get a better job. Yeah I'd like to move out but with all the uncertainty with my job and all it may not be the smartest decision right now.Hunchman801 wrote:I had that in London where I was a bit far from the center and I ended up going out a lot less. Now I've moved to Paris I've gone for a much more central flat.
Well a first it was so I could pay back my training (even though it was financed by Pôle Emploi) and they said that it was standard procedure to re-inject what they deducted into the salary once the six first months are up. But they didn't do that. On the other hand, they said they would raise my salary a bit to compensate the fact that I make 200km everyday to go to work. They didn't the first month, and even though the client gives 20€ for each day worked, in the end I received 50€ from my company for the whole 2nd month. That barely covers the motorway fee for one week.Hunchman801 wrote:What was their excuse to deduct money from your salary?

Re: New Years Resolutions
Hmm, this is a first for me, but might as well have some aspirations in writing.
Graduate and Move into a Career
With this being my final year at uni, I'm on the cusp of leaving academia. Time to get a job methinks.
Move Out
I think I'm at a point where I'd like to have my own space now, though given the housing market at present, I've no idea if this is entirely feasible. At the very least, I want to start taking the steps needed to move out, god help me in getting a car though.
Break the Introvert
I'm far more open with my friends at uni now, and I feel I'm capable of being more personable. That being said, I still don't really hang out much, and while I like having time to myself, I don't want to be a complete shut-in. I also don't want to run the risk of drifting apart from the folks I've befriended at uni, as has happened with friends from college and high school.

Re: New Years Resolutions
Bump.
Well, this is a weird time for anyone to talk about resolutions but I'd like to post something here about how my goals are doing. I prefer to call them goals since these are goals that I definitely think I can obtain and don't sound like the traditional cheesy "I'll lose weight", "I'll be a nice person", blablabla...
Be more open to people
I think I have succeeded in this over the past 8 months I was in my web programming class, I'm not as afraid to go out and venture and see the world, meeting new friends, and making some lasting relationships (which I feel I've made a lot here already
)
Practice speaking in a different language other than English and Spanish
So far, not very successful. I mean, I've TRIED to do it, in this case Japanese since quite a few of the video games I would like to play are in Japanese. So far, haven't improved so much in speaking this particular language, but I've started trying to speak a couple other languages, such as French, German, and Irish.
Getting a job
Ok so maybe this one IS a bit too traditional here, but so far I'm getting better at being more aggressive in job searching like my dad wants for me. So far I've gotten more and more replies and interviews from recruiters and the like. Still need to improve some aspects of my personality if I want to stand a chance against the other candidates, given my not-so-good grades.
So, overall, it's not too bad, at least I succeeded at one.
