The main issue with these is the battery life, I don't really want a car I have to “refuel” every 200 km.

I can see it being more problematic if someone were a road-trip kind of person, though if you had a recharging outlet at your home, I'd imagine it being even less troublesome than having to fill up on gas.

That's why it's perfect to go to work, but then you'll need a second one for holidays. I'd rather have one I can do everything with.

Hm, I can see the benefits of using electric, especially in the financial sense, though I'm not so sure about the long distance issue, if they can bypass that, I'm sold.

I have my driving license since beginnings of September, but my final card didn't arrive yet. :tssk: I need to go to the institute to create pressure on them to hurry up.

Do you already have a car, Haruka?

Not yet, but I sometimes drive my mother's or my father's car from the work since I have permission from the company to use it.

Looking forward to the glorious day when I actually get a car to call my own, at which point I fully intend to kiss public transportation goodbye forever.

Meh, depends on the circumstances for me, having been to London and seen some of its crazy traffic, I can't say I'd feel confident in such an environment.

Yeah, I can see why driving would be less than desirable if you live in (or anywhere near) a big city like that.

I often use public transport as a preferred method of transport. Sometimes, when I've driven a lot, it's nice just to be driven by someone else!

Meh, the trains are a bit awkward at times though, trains to Manchester are packed.

I tend to avoid trains to be honest, mainly because they are so hideously expensive in this country.

Yeah, makes me wonder about my future finances, what with the need to commute to Uni.

I for one would definitely consider other options. How far will you have to travel each day?

Hm, depends on where I end up, though iirc, Manchester was about 1 hr 30 by train.

I've of course not been driving for more than a year and three months so far, but I haven't come across a case yet where I'd rather be the passenger. Public transportation is often just so slow and boring in comparison, especially when you're in a country where things are so spread out that it takes you nearly two or three hours to cross the city on a bus. It used to take me an hour and forty-five minutes to get home from school, and once I started driving, only about 45.
