Honestly, I would jizz for a Rayman 2 re-remake. Imagine it on the PS4, with added content, remastered music and sound, amazing graphics, beautiful atmosphere and CGI cutscenes.

I've always had a Rayman 1 remake in mind. I'm very experienced in programming mechanics, just not using any practical language. Once I'm more apt at Java/C++, the first thing I was wanting to do is recreate the Rayman 1 mechanics, and hopefully expand that into a full HD remake with the help of various other artists (like Spanex and Gwee).
Once my ROTD mechanics are solidified (they're coming along very nicely), I was thinking of recreating the Woods of Light environment using ROTD's assets to see what a modern Rayman 2 could look like.

yeah, that could be cool , I'm not experienced with coding, but I guess I could still help

This all sounds really awesome.
I'm also learning C++. I'm not as experienced, but I can do various things already.

Even if I don't like the game much, I more than happy to help with Rayman 1.

I thought also remaking a Rayman 1 2D sequel, like taking the same tiles from the cancelled 2d proto of Rayman 2, making levels from beta , then make our own levels

One things for sure, though, we also have to consider the fact that 4 other story arcs have already taken place. If we're going to expand on R1, we need to consider all those new characters (Li the fairy, Batina, Globox(!), the fact that the Magician was really Mr. Dark's secret henchman who split into 5 teensies, etc.) and pick up from where the game last left off.

That's really true. So sad that Ubisoft didn't realize it yet.
Basically, I consider Ubisoft's "turn everyone into teensies" idea to be rather lazyness than a thought-out step in Rayman's history. However, I do have a lot of ideas for the explaination behind several story elements, such as the Magician being a fan of Mr. Dark. I even had an idea that there should be some sort of cinematic where the Magician talks with the photographer, or even pays him for following Rayman, like the photographer was his companion all along.
There is a ton of stuff that the creators left unexplained, and we should change on that.

In my opinion if the Rayman 1 remake takes place during Rayman 1, it only needs to expand on the Rayman 1 world. If there were to be a new game that took place in the Rayman 1 worlds, then yes, it would follow the, uh, 'continuity',

I guess I should explain myself a little better.
Rayman 1 and 2 are from the last decade; we rayman players are, at this point, all too familiar with how the existing story arcs go, since most of us are veterans of the game who started back in the days; we already know how the game turns out: how Rayman struggles through the Chapters of each arc, what he must do to find Mr. Dark/Razorboard and how he finally defeats them in the end. What more is there to "expand" on them? Wouldn't adding new levels to something that's so engrained in us turn us away?
I'm speaking merely from a human emotions standpoint. We've played it for so long, and it's always there as it is.
I'm not against the idea of new levels/chapters and new ways to defeat Mr. Dark and Razor-head. (In fact, if I remembered correctly, 11-13 years ago I always had fun fatacising the made-up worlds, "Literature Lake" and "Skyward Temple"; little did these things actually become reality. lol) However, I personally believe that the best way in going about this is if we pick up from the story arcs that had
happened along the way, just to keep the chronology of it in tact; unless we want to create "in-between" story arcs, all the while untouching the rest. On the other hand, "Rayman Designer" already kind of sort of fills that role. And, secondly, so does Adsolution's "Revenge of the Dark" story Arc. (Which I'm actually pretty eager to download and try out, once I get my laptop to be duel-booted for Vista and WIN2000, the latter where the old retro Rayman 1 and 2 will be installed.)
It maybe different for newbies who have just started playing the game; I'm sure they couldn't relate to what I'm saying. On the other hand, if anything, they're probably not going to be playing Rayman 1. Maybe 2, but much less likely 1. Their generation is mostly focused on Origins (which I have a separate un-related criticism for) and Legends.
IMPORTANT edit - I'm sorry, I may want to take all of this back, as it's possible that I mis-understood the entire point of this thread. When we say "Rayman 1 in the newer console", are we talking about taking the OLD stories and putting it into the Rayman 4 platform with all the old R1 and R2 worlds and sceneries?
IMPORTANT edit 2 - There was also something else I didn't originally consider: not everyone enjoys all the story arcs that happened so far. For instance, I quite agree with RayRobi in that it was a bit silly that they not only turned the Magician into an evil teensie but that everyone in rayman's world is a teensie. Really, what WAS that all about?

I've played all the games in the Main series except for Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. The least favorite games from the series are the first two and my favorite games from the series are the two recent games. And Ales Mansay is my favorite Rayman villain. So yeah...

I'll admit, I prefer the Original Trilogy over the UbiArt duology, but the Magician turning evil is something I actually like, it's just a major pity they didn't execute it well enough for it to hold up in comparison.
As for other inconsistencies and whatnot, don't get hung up over trying to explain everything, sometimes keeping things vague is far better than trying to retcon it or give some explanation, as we saw with the limbless retcon Origins tried and Legends subsequently passed over.

I think Origins kinda messed up tying together Rayman 1 and the rest. Before, it could be said that the Valley is just separate from the rest, but now it's like they tried to make out that it was in the Glade all along.

Well, if you'd want it to be made as another separate game, then I'd say that the storyline of the earlier games would get too much games connecting to it, and then it would be a bit overcrowded.
Just think about if there were coming a Rayman Trilogy + Rayman 1.5 ROTD, that would make it seem like the fans are too much sticking to the older games and would not want to pass by and think of something new. Wait... that would be just nice since that storyline is far better than the RO/RL one, and maybe even Ubisoft would realize that we like it better what they were doing before Origins and Legends ( in terms of story at least ).

We can expand the game at points where the story may have left some unanswered questions. That's our job to figure where these are.
I can think of a perfect example: the pirate invasion. The story itself didn't tell anything about how all that happened, how Rayman has tried to rescue his friends and how they all have been captured in the end ( there might be a video cinematic about it, or maybe even new levels that take these story elements into account ). There were some images, descriptions and brief stories about other things the game didn't concern on the official website, but there are still questions that remain unanswered.

Of course the main story would have left untouched, so it wouldn't feel so much different from the original, but there would be "in-between story arcs", to make the story more coherent and intriguing. Changes ( most likely expansions ) have to be made in order to make it better, but with so many people here to help, I doubt it would go in the wrong direction.

Of course there are a lot of opportunities to improve on elements most people didn't like, for instance the combat in Rayman 2.

personally i'd like to see a remake of rayman 2 that's the same version on every console, since isn't there some variety between each version? and i think rayman 1's been remade a couple times before tho not in hd.
