What do you mean? That some tracks are MIDI and some are not? That some of the tunes were composed using a MIDI synthesizer (and not live instruments)? Can you give some examples?

PS1 version is the best in my opinion

All of the tracks in this video are in the PS1 version and are played back as live MIDI:
In case you don't recall them, most of them are queued at "athletic" sections of individual areas alongside the produced ambience track of whatever world you're in. Others include the level-loading music and the boss victory theme (the second and third tracks in this video).
