My biggest obsession was being too much of a perfectionist. It's something that I've been fixing over the years, but there were many occasions in which I martyred myself thinking that what I was doing was insufficient and that I had to do much better. This is something that happened to me in almost any field (studies, videogames, driving...) and I don't really remember anything that motivated me to be that way, it was simply an obsession for wanting to do absolutely everything in a perfect way. Honestly, I think letting go of that obsession has made me enjoy the things I do more.

This happens to me too. There have been times I'd be fixing something for someone and they'd tell me that it's fine the way I have it, and I'd be like "nah its not quite right", then try to further tweak while they're literally there like "leave it, it's fine".

This has even become apparent with the music for Polokurse, since I keep making revisions to the same songs every so often due to always thinking they can be better / improved. The issue with this mentality is that there's no such thing as perfect, so what we aim for in most cases can never truly be achieved and we just have to accept what's "good enough". The problem is that despite being aware of this, it's still very hard to accept good enough and stop aiming / striving for perfection. I know this too well.

Exactly! What happened to me many times is that when people told me that "it was fine", I thought just the opposite! If they told me that, I interpreted that they wanted me to leave it because they didn't like the result, so it made me work even harder on that. What made me change that mentality was basically having lots of things to do at the same time. Since then, I simply try to "optimize" everything instead of trying to be that perfectionist and, honestly, I think I get even better results when I just "optimize". Probably the lack of pressure on trying to achieve that perfection is better for everything

I still unfortunately have the issue of trying to perfect everything. Even last year, we got a little cabinet for under the sink that someone was going to throw away when they were moving. When we got it here, I was like "the doors are too far apart on this", so I started adjusting the hinges to move them in a little. After a while, I was still like "nah this one is a bit crooked", and my gf was saying "it's fine" and laughing about it. I definitely have those perfectionistic traits even in adulthood.

Same! I always have to make sure something is a perfect straight line from the edge of the table when putting it down.

Also, when there is a surface with a pattern on and I am putting something on it, I will always make sure to put it on a patternless section of the surface

I used to have a lot of touching OCD’s like obsessively feeling a material, but I haven’t gotten one of those for about half a year now

I am like this with video games I like, admittedly. There are probably other instances where I would have a perfectionist attitude, that I'm not consciously aware of myself.

My obsession is Rayman, the character.

I am in love with that man, deeply in love with him. I understand hes not real, and most of the time can see what's real VS fiction. Im deep in this "im dating rayman" thing, even having married Rayman by someone whos legally trained to officiate weddings. This is a coping mechanism for me, and its not really harming my well being. I still can live a some-what normal life, dispite me consirdering Rayman my actual husband. I love him so much.

I don’t need to because your actions around here make them very obvious.

I still have the same thing with being a perfectionist which means I will often nitpick small issues others won't have a problem with.

Even stuff like coding, most people say if it works then that's fine, yet I still keep trying to make it look clean and readable with comments etc. When I see code that doesn't do this, it feels like a mess. I do stuff like use switch statements instead of "if else" just because it looks cleaner, even though it's really doing the same thing.

My main one would be finding a very obscure issue with something that people wouldn't usually do and then still wanting to fix it, or just stuff like discrepancies other people won't notice or don't care about.

I might be a little bit OCD to some extent (even some traits of Autism), but I know some people can be a lot worse. I do care about numbers in some way, but not in a sense of being obsessed with increasing numbers that basically mean nothing. An example of this would be playing games you don't like on Xbox just to get achievements and increase your Gamerscore. You could be doing something else that's actually fun instead of caring about a meaningless number.

I have addiction to jewelry and fashion :D

Well, time to add "conspiracies" to Greengoop's obsessions. :P

Yeah, I wonder if being a conspiracy nut is a symptom of OCD?
