I have to learn the calculations 'cause I have a strict teacher. You have to do so many questions until the rest becomes homework...

(sorry to double post!)

Doing English homework- but stuck! Dx

Here's the question:

"Identify any one technique used by the writer in this paragraph and explain how it helps to convey the impact of the storm"

The paragraph:

"That night we learn more important lessons about the sea when we are struck by a sudden, violent squall. We are tacking in a light breeze, when there is a bang as the sails are battered by winds gusting to gale force eight, and the ship heels 15 degrees to port"

If I were you, I would talk about what I made Bold. I would talk about the diction in the quote.

Thanks Jman

I got another -_-

Question:

"Comment on the effectiveness of the opening sentence of this paragragh"

The (whole)Paragraph:

"And then, as abruptly as it came, the squall is gone. The stars reappear, and the mini-storm becomes an opaque curtain against a ghostly light on the horizone"

This whole homework is about a boat, by the way.

The question does seem a little vague :? Did you talk about the metaphor?

The questions are always confusing :(

Anyway, I've got 1 question to do for tommorow in Maths(hahaha!), but since I've been off, I haven't a CLUE what to do!!! :(

Ok, so it's distance-speed-time.

Q) Calculate the distance travelled on the journeys.

a) Speed: 30 km/h
Time (h): 5

b) Speed: 75 km/h
Time (h): 6

c) Speed: 24 mph
Time (h): 3

d) Speed: 60 mph
Time(h): 9

It's very simple, you use the formula D=ST so you just times the speed by the time.
