If we're talking about slang, then "stupid" isn't incredibly far off I suppose--in that case though, it would end up meaning "a** ape", which is kind of funny I think.

I've only played the first game on the Game Boy Color, though it was a great platformer. To come up with the idea of pre-rendered visuals for the time is a amazing thing. It's even more amazing to see it almost full-form on the Game Boy Color (albeit you can only have one of the characters on screen at a time--this is still a GBC after all) and fluid nonetheless. Not to mention they were great games pre-rendered or not.

The GBC version is terrible compared to the other versions, even Donkey Kong Land, which I think was on the Game Boy (as in...not colour). Someone gave lots of reasons why on dkc-atlas in this thread.

Bump.

DKC is awesome! I've played the first 3 and finished them, I plan to take on the other 2 titles currently out in the future! :)

DKC TF looks amazing, I have it on Switch. The first one on SNES would be my favourite of those 3 since it's the one I've always played and the one I own.

If I based it on music, DKC2 would be my favorite. If I based it on environments, then DKC3 is my favorite. They are all pretty equal in gameplay, though overall my favorite is still the DKC, such a classic. I'm glad Retro was able to take on the mantle and revive this series since Rare got bought out. I oughta give Returns a go when I have time this or next week.

I still haven't completed DKCTF yet due to an unexpected Zelda addiction. I'll get around to it soon, but I love how it went back to it's roots in the way that it's 2D with the difference being that it has amazing graphics. For a SNES though, the original DKC actually looked ahead of its time.

And yet here I am 2 years later and I still haven't played Returns. :P

I really do love that og trilogy though. There's the remakes and the added content is nice. But there's something about the OGs that feel much better to play despite the fact I don't own the SNES games.

I used to have DKC1 on the Gameboy Colour. A bit of a janky port but we used to love it. I've also played a bit of Returns on 3DS but didn't make it far before putting it down and forgetting about it (a habit of mine).

I think the one for GBC was the first one I owned before the GBA remake. And then I got the roms online and that's how my journey started with DKC. Each of the first 3 games were enjoyable for me. I need to check if I have a DKCR rom on my laptop later and then try playing later.

I have the most memories with DKC, since I played all 3 versions longest.

I wonder if anyone who's played returns can tell me what it's like?

That's supposed to be a really good game. I don't have that one, but I have Tropical Freeze on Switch.

It's on Wii U and Switch, but I guess it depends on whether you can find a copy.

I have yet to full finish the GB games either (I guess those would be Donkey Kong land though)

I haven't played the GB ones, but I should try them also at some stage.
