Re: The Metal Gear thread
I was never disagreeing haha.
You totally forgot the insanely obscure Metal Gear Ac!d tactical strategy game for PSP, but I don't think anyone remembers that.
Edit: I've tried giving Portable ops so many chances, I keep disliking it everytime I play it, controls are insanely uncomfortable. Maybe I'm just spoiled with Peace Walkers incredible controls.

Re: The Metal Gear thread
Hmm, I remember playing a demo for Peace Walker, didn't get the whole thing though.
Re: The Metal Gear thread
Metal..... gear?
Phantom pain is by far my most anticipated game for this year, assuming it doesn't get pushed..
The series definitely has some problems in terms of being too cartoony, but at least it doesn't take itself too seriously and the gameplay is the fucking bomb.

Re: The Metal Gear thread
I've quite personally never had a problem with this as long as they continue to get straight to the point. Metal Gear always has a lot of comedy-relief scenes even during serious parts of the games. Kojima I guess wants to show his Japanese side sometimes (being able to kiss the posters of the semi nude woman in the locker room on MGS2.)Mrbadguy wrote:The series definitely has some problems in terms of being too cartoony, but at least it doesn't take itself too seriously and the gameplay is the fucking bomb.
It's easily one of my favorite series next to Rayman, Megaman, and Zelda. What do you guys think the best trailer for MGS V is? They actually had three of them, nuclear, we are not your kind of people, and red band. I actually have to say "We are not your kind of people" may be my favorite, but Nuclear was also really great, really showed the truly vengeful side of Big Boss. Who here will be picking up day 1?
And please Kojima announce a release date, I REALLY want to pre order.
What's a little sad is a lot of people shrug Peace Walker off as just a mere spin off when it has to be played in order to understand Big Boss's story. It continues off of 3, and it's an excellent gameMaster wrote:Hmm, I remember playing a demo for Peace Walker, didn't get the whole thing though.
Re: The Metal Gear thread
Yeah man peace walker rocks, just got a new psp so I'm gonna be playing it again (by far the best way to play is psp imo)

Re: The Metal Gear thread
Lots of secrets too! If I remember correctly there's a secret Monster Hunter mission that ca be unlocked in PW. Undoubtedly one of the best PSP games, my mother base is an insanely high level. I'm so glad they're bringing back a lot of peace walker elements in V
Re: The Metal Gear thread
There are a few monster hunter missions, took me aback when I played it for the first time

Re: The Metal Gear thread
Big news everyone. Kojima is going to announce something special Wednesday, what do you guys think it might be? A release date? Or just more Kojima trolling?
Re: The Metal Gear thread
My guess is that we won't know until wednesday

Re: The Metal Gear thread
That's a bold prediction. :p
Re: The Metal Gear thread
Hope it's a release date, but I'll temper my expectations, it is Kojima

Yes, and last time Kojima's big announcement was a "chicken hat" for those who die a lot. MGS V was first announced back in what? 2012? I don't want to pull a OCG here and set my expectations too high but we shall see.

Re: The Metal Gear thread
BIG NEWS EVERYONE, IGN leaked the big announcement early... Phantom Pain is coming out on...

September 1, 2014. Yeah... a bit near the end of the year, but anyone hyped as fuck, maybe revisit the MGS series in the meantime.

Re: The Metal Gear thread
Anyway, about the news...
Yeah I'm happy with it, it's 2015 ain't it?
Summer release would have been much nicer though
Not sure if I'll replay anything in the meantime, maybe some ground zeroes leading up to it if anything...

Re: The Metal Gear thread
It's real... it was on the IGN website. IGN was to announce it exclusively. Of course they removed it as soon as they accidentally leaked early.
I'll replay the entire MGS series within these 6 months if I have to.

Re: The Metal Gear thread
It's the story really, I dug 'em for like the first two times I played 'em, but after that, there are just so many cutscenes and codec calls, it really diminishes the experience for me. Kojima needs to get more concise, and I think he's slowly doing that.

Re: The Metal Gear thread
If its 3rd playthrough and you don't want cutscenes, you can always skip them.
Re: The Metal Gear thread
Yeah I mean that's what I do, but what you're left with is skeletal... I just wish there were quicker cutscenes, and shorter codec calls. They could all get to the point a lot quicker if they wanted to

I mean... I guess if you're using emulator, speed up button to skip everything.
