Re: Change Rayman?

Post by spiraldoor »

I've played both Twinsanity and A Hero's Tail, and I didn't think they were as good as the originals.

Twinsanity deviated enormously from the gameplay of the originals; for example, the Warp Rooms of Crash 1 and 2 were replaced by a free-roaming hub...people who prefer Rayman 2 to Revolution will understand me here. The addition of the extra playable characters just seemed odd to me; I liked Cortex as a villain, not as one of the protagonists. Him being replaced as villain by those damn bird things didn't help. And I didn't like the music at all; it came nowhere near the awesome that was the Crash 3 theme.

A Hero's Tail also deviated quite a bit. I liked gems the way they were; a limited number of them, so that you had to collect every single one to finish the game 100%. But in A Hero's Tail, they were relegated to an in-game currency, of which there was an infinite amount to be found. And wtf did they do to Moneybags? I also liked the system from the previous games, with the portals in the hub levels; this was all changed in Hero's Tail. And I think Red just sucks as a villain in comparison to Ripto, or the Sorceress.

I could probably go on, but those are my main problams with the games. I wish that they had just stayed the way they were: two trilogies, each with a beginning, a middle, and a conclusion. My favourites of both series are Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon. Metacritic agrees with me.
