If there was a manual system ie sysops could choose when to give rewards, that may work... but people might complain if they don't get anything so there's still problems.
Then again, receiving tings for proper raywiki articles makes more sense than getting tings for posts in "word to word" imo.

If you look at that article you'll see that they've only surveyed women and men that are grown up and has no doubt already been influenced at a young age by the colours chosen for their things by their parents. I still think it's more about being impressed at a young age than it is in our genes.
It really is a laughable thing to be upset about and feel offended by though. It's almost as laughable as nurses complaining that they don't get paid as much as engineers. Because that obviously has something to do with most nurses being women and most engineers being men. Riiight.

I haven't posted here in forever. D:

Users are issued Black Lums when they misbehave. Much like the standard warning system, only more sophisticated and Raymanised
I already find regular warnings quite useless, as I think the size of our community still allows us to handle problems via PM, and I don't see how calling them black lums would make things any better.
Xenon wrote:RayWiki awards
Users are awarded an amount of Tings for good articles they post for the RayWiki
Excellent idea, but rewards would have to be given manually by sysops.
Xenon wrote:Additional RayWiki currency
Users are issued awards in a new independent currency (possibly a colour of Lums) each time they post a good article on the RayWiki
Tings are just fine.
Xenon wrote:Silver Lum system
Users are awarded Silver Lums each time they do something exceptionally good (not just Tings)
Tings again.
Xenon wrote:Gender icons
Gender icons to indicate whether a member is male or female (could be represented by a red/blue Lum, for example)
Nice idea, I agree with that (not the lums part though :P).
Xenon wrote:'Like' options for posts
Similarly to Youtube, users can optionally 'like' a post (this could be represented by a Rayman fist and thumb, for example)
I find it pretty useless to be honest.
Xenon wrote:Awards for HOF scores
Users are given a certain amount of Tings depending on their R3 scores
It's already been discussed, sounds like a good idea as well.
Xenon wrote:Country flags
Flags to indicate the country you are from, displayed under public profile
We used to have this a few years ago, but people were abusing it a lot with random countries... It kinda ruined the fun.

We definitely need that.

Well, some say the silver lum system should be replaced with Tings, i don't think that should happen..... If we would do that then it would be TOO easy to get tings.... resulting that more people will beg for more ranks.... which is almost impossible because Rayman games don't have that much allies/friends right now.

I think we should have a system to BUY ranks with tings (i got this idea from someone in the Rayman forums.... he posted it before me) AND silver lums. (or some more kinds of lums..... you'll have to get each in a different way.....)

Ting ranks are the ranks we have now. (some should be replaced, like Razorbeard should be replaced by the Grolgoth and Bzzit by Moskito (that one is reddish in the psx version))

Silver lum ranks should be neutral ranks (Jano, Umber, Axel, Foutch, Grolem 13)

Blue lum should be other special ranks (Polokus and that seller from tonic trouble (Raylex's rank), Bzzit)

Red lum should be ''evil'' special ranks (Mr. Dark, André, Razorbeard)

Is this a good idea?

It's interesting, but the rank system is fine how it is.

I'm not so sure about the gender ranks anymore, it may result in people critizing other's posts because of their gender. It seems ridiculous but I've seen this sort of situation happen before. But it would help out with the public humiliation of mistaking someone for another sex. :P I can't say it's happened alot, but I sometimes can't really tell what gender half this forum is. Or is that a good thing?

I don't think gender icons would make that problem any worse, if it exists. But since nobody likes the idea of Lums representing gender, maybe we could use Antitoons (for males) and Electoons (for females)? That would probably be more suitable actually.

What? I'm a boy and I prefer electoons over antitoons.

It's just an idea based on the fact Electoons are pink and Antitoons are blue.

I suppose. What sort of Antitoons? 2D Antitoons or ugly 3D ones like the rank here?

There's nothing particularly masculine or feminine about red and blue Lums. Think of some different Rayman-related gender symbol...

Aha! Perfect! Electoons and Antitoons are the Rayman-related gender-symbols I was searching for! We need to do this!
Acarr wrote:I'm not so sure about the gender ranks anymore, it may result in people critizing other's posts because of their gender.
That wouldn't happen.
PluMGMK wrote:What? I'm a boy and I prefer electoons over antitoons.
As I said to Acarr before, blue means male and pink means female. What individuals prefer is utterly irrelevant.
PluMGMK wrote:What sort of Antitoons? 2D Antitoons or ugly 3D ones like the rank here?
2D Antitoons would fit much better with the 2D Electoons, so obviously we'll use them.

What about just it stating what sex you are to make things simple?

Example;

Location: Here
Tings: 47637

Ayee, that was me. I wouldn't mind either way, as long as I'm not represented by a colour. :mefiant:
