Apparently, there is this thing on dA with countries being portrayed as people. I don't know why.

It's actually from an anime/manga/whatev called Axis Powers Hetalia and yeah certain countries are portrayed as humans. The DA roleplaying part is also true.

Um try looking in the library for books about French, there's bound to be in both the town one and the school one if there is one.

I was taught by an absolutely terrible French teacher for three years. It was delightful. She had no control over the class at all and we could do what we wanted.

Well, I know that dutch is harder to learn for french people than french is for dutch people.

I personally think it sounds a bit like German spoken with an American accent.

Mmyeah, German and Dutch are kind of similar, but German has more of an accent than Dutch, I believe.
