1 - The R4 trailer made us getting excited about the game on the E3, and after when they released the final game... it was RRR.
2 - 7 years passed after the release of R3... and we are still waiting for a 3rd sequel.
3 - Creating crappy games like Imagine, just to make grannies and mommies thinking "This game is cheap and the kid will like this" and earning money with that
4 - Changing Rayman's design in the transition from R2 for R3 (Today I can live with that, but still on the early times of the new design I was very annoyed with the change) AND Ubisoft's logo (I also prefered a lot the original logo)
5 - The humour inserted on R3
6 - Not choosing the original Globox voice of R2 to R3
7 - Rayman TV Series not being continued and Rayman's voice also not being the best (It could be the original one, since in French it is the original voice actor)
8 - Rayman Arena of Xbox and Gamecube being exclusive to USA
9 - Other things that I ain't reminding now

This is the greatest topic ever created. I also hate Ubisoft for milking every single franchise they have, EXCEPT for Rayman, the only one of their series that I give a shit about. I hate them for disrespecting their best developer (Michel Ancel) so much that they would consider a great game that bombed in sales a "failure" and disapprove a sequel.
I don't even care about BG&E, I've never played the first one and I most likely won't play the sequel, but that is ridiculous. The game was great, so make a sequel. If it bombs in sales as well, fuck you, you get enough money from Petz and Imagine, you can afford to take a minor financial blow every once in a while. I really wish that Ancel would start his own company. No idea where he'd get the funds for it, but if it happened, it would be great.
I hate Ubisoft for porting Rayman left and right while adding little to nothing to the games. Seriously, what was the point of the iPhone port? I was wrong; Ubi does milk the Rayman series, just not in the way we want them to. I hate them for making Rabbids Go Home, a shining example of the Rabbids' full potential, and then announcing more shovelware BS with RR4.

The only games I ever played of Ubisoft are almost all the available Rayman games (except for the learning ones), almost all the Rabbid games and Tonic Trouble.

No, the new name sucks. The old name was better. And how can you not care about the logo?
'Ubi Soft' makes me think of soft things, like pillows and marshmallows. 'Ubisoft' makes me think of Microsoft.

That is exactly why the new name fits so much better, and why the old name was gay. Besides, I'm pretty sure everyone pronounced it as one word in the first place.
About the logo, it really just comes natural to me not to care about stuff like that.

Pillows and marshmallows aren't gay though. Microsoft is. Therefore the old name is logically better.
I also notice that they stopped making good games around the time they changed their name. Coincidence? I think not.

Notice that Beyond Good and Evil has the new name and logo, not the old.

In fact, Beyond Good & Evil was the first game to hold the new logo.
And honestly, seeing the new logo animation, I can't say it doesn't make me think of magical worlds as well. So I feel fine with both logo's. Still, the first logo was obviously a rainbow, yet I can't really make anything other that a 'whirlpool emblem' out of the new logo..

I said 'around the time', not 'at precisely the time'.
Newray wrote:In fact, Beyond Good & Evil was the first game to hold the new logo.
It was the last game developed by Ubi Soft before they changed their name. It was also the last truly good game to come from the company. Not a coincidence.
Ubi Soft > Ubisoft
The fact that BG&E was developed by Ubi Soft and published by Ubisoft probably explains why it failed commercially, come to think of it.
Soulless whirlpool.

Fuck it, I don't care about the quality of the games or the logo differences. The name itself should always have spelled in one word.

I kinda like the new logo animation. Less modern and more back in the good old days... *sigh*
And really, who cares if they change their name or their logo? It stays the same company... I can't really see how some people are hating Ubisoft for something as insignificant as that...
Or are we just hatin' everything about them now because they still haven't made a Rayman game?

The topic title is 'Things you hate about Ubisoft', not 'Why you hate Ubisoft'. I don't hate them, I just think it's lame how they used to spell their name in two words for no real reason.

Yeah, okay. But I'm just saying, one spacebar isn't that big of a reason to hate the old name, is it?

No. I never liked the new name or logo.
El Dango wrote:The name itself should always have spelled in one word.
Why? What makes you say this? What was wrong with the old name? The fact that it was not a single word?

How can you care about the space between 'Ubi' and 'Soft', but not care about the logo above it at all? I don't understand.

I think the old name was fine and I think it's lame how they changed it to one word for no real reason.

1. Yeah, it doesn't really make sense.
2. They obviously did it because the old way sucked.
3. Fail. You see, I don't usually play Ubisoft games. I've only played the Rayman ones and Beyond Good and Evil. Please argue properly.

Please explain to me why companies should not have names consisting of more than one word.

No. The old name and logo were better than the current one. How can you not accept this objective fact?

You don't 'usually' play Ubisoft games, therefore you don't care if their games are good or not? How illogical. You should want every game to be as good as possible, like I do, so that everyone can gain the greatest possible amount of enjoyment from them. If they turn out to be good, you should then play them. I don't 'usually' play Nintendo games, but that doesn't mean I don't hope they'll make something good that will appeal to me from time to time.

Okay, to be honest, this name and logo thing is purely a matter of taste (although I never did have an opinion on the logo in the first place), so let's just accept each other's opinions and avoid make something huge out of this. I have to admit that Spanex do have a point here.

I don't think that way, and I most likely never will. Still, it does surprise me that recent Ubisoft games should be bad. I've heard good things about games like Assassin's Creed.

I think they should've refreshed the old logo instead of making a whole new one like this (or they could make a better-looking font at least).

If you all think the current Ubi logo was bad you should see the one they used in the 80's. Holy fuck that was so pink.
