Reading this topic has made me want a cigarette.
Yeah I smoke regularly, I find it to be a very enjoyable taste, my favourite being camel blue's. It's also a social thing, and I've met some of my closest friends through smoking. Cigars are vastly superior to cigarettes in taste, but rather expensive, so I limit myself in that area, having just finished a box that I bought at the beginning of the summer, but nothing beats a summer's evening with a cigar in one hand and a glass of scotch in the other. I don't smoke enough to greatly increase my chance of getting lung cancer/heart disease etc to a degree that is noticeable, mostly smoking no more than 4/5 a day, so I see no reason to stop when I enhoy it as much as I do.

Not gonna try and influence you, but I do recommend it. It really opens up the mind, and I know you're also very musical, and in that regard, it's awesome

Now this is something I'm very edgy about. Weed, just like smoking, is really quite bad for you, but the thought has crossed my mind more than once about potentially using it to enhance my creativity when composing. If I do it I'd probably feel terrible about it, but then again it could help me create an amazing masterpiece for all I know.

Cannabis does less harm than tobacco and alcohol actually, according to these charts at least: 1, 2
As I said, what keeps me from trying it is the fact it's illegal - there's really no quality control and I'd prefer if someone was responsible for what I smoke.

Yeah I haven't tried it but as I understand it weed is less harmful. The fact that it is illegal while Tobacco is perfectly acceptable I actually find to be astounding, not to mention kind of a double standard.
This is of course not an informed opinion but whatever.

I have never smoked and I never want to.
Although, I am surprised about how many people in my class smoke.

I think there was an ex-classmate that I had that consumed Cannabis... I even remember him to bring a picture frame with a cannabis leaf framed inside.

Matyuv's point about quality control is a good one, and I think this is a really good argument for legalising it, but I've never had any problems with it myself.
The trick with any of this stuff is moderation, and if you don't take enough to harm yourself, I really don't see a problem.

Out of interest, when you took up smoking did you stop to consider all the possible benefits and then compare them with all the possible drawbacks? Because I really cannot understand what first-time smokers find so attractive about the concept of smoking.
As for legalising cannabis-smoking, well I'm probably not as well-informed as many others in this thread. But the fact that it is illegal implies that it is unacceptable for a reason besides health risks, and I can't see how challenging this with the simple argument of 'it's less harmful than tobacco' justifies such a change in law.

I never make a decision without considering it, so yeah in my personal opinion, it has more benefits than risks for myself, and I can give up whenever I want, I go for days without a cigarette when I'm at home.
As for cannabis being illegal, I've heard that it was to do with political reasons rather than medical, maybe something to research?

Spain have the same law since January 2.
I dont smoke. In my school, the vast majority of people smoke marijuana instead of snuff.

This reminds me a news I read in a newspaper; it seems there are even more people buying electronic cigarretes.

None of my closest friends smoke but far too many in my school/area do, even though smoking is illegal in public places here. A couple folks I know who do smoke however have said to me they hate it, especially how it's an expensive habit that leaves them reaking afterwards with bad coughs and that they want to quit but its just too addictive.
Admittedly, I have tried a cigarette or two but I hated it. Never again...

I was in town today and I saw some thirteen-year-old girls smoking cigarettes! What's the world coming to?

People start even more earlier, just because the others look "cooler" by doing it.

Welcome to my world. ¬¬ I have a friend who is 14 (she turned 14 yesterday) and she's been smoking for like a year. I think her boyfriend got her in to it ¬¬
