It’s from the
Rayman 2 2D prototype. A level was included as a bonus in the PS1 version of R2. I think I took the above screenshot.

Well, it seems I have underestimated that 2D prototype after all... it would have been nice if it was made; alongside the final R2 of course.

Do you mean you wish they would have stuck with the sidescroller? I disagree if that's what you meant, but that's just my opinion.

Well while I would have much enjoyed a 2D Rayman 2 to be made, I think the 3D one is irreplaceable. It had a certain feel about it that couldn't be matched by a sidescroller. It had to do a lot with mystery, and if you could see the enemy or scene in front of your character that's hiding behind a crate or wall, you wouldn't get that feeling.
