I think animals can be clever, but they don't think long term, unlike humans.
However, they have certainly some emotions. Maybe some "naive" and/or "pure" emotions (sadness, joy, sometimes shame and jealousy, but not anxiety, pride, inspiration, etc…). They aren't machines, they have a brain, they think.

But what I honestly wonder is : do they have imagination ? I can't answer it. :/ Maybe imagination is the difference between us and other species. And I prefer to ignore where imagination come from.^^

Technically wrong example, as the homeopathy fans are sure they have eveidence in form of alive people who were extremely sick. Didn't really bother to check any of them because I have abolutely no problem with someone drinking water with 0,0001% of something and saying it may help.
