So you couldn't find any other major differences? That makes it even more curious!

Hi!
Did already someone speedrun Rayman Redemption with a TAS?
I'm curious to see it.

Definitely not, most of the activity in Rayman Redemption speedrunning has been individual levels and there's been very few full-game runs, let alone a single TAS.

Thanks!
Real speedruns are already great btw.

Another aspect is that there aren't many tools for PC games with regard to TAS, probably because the differences between machines make it very hard to get something consistent. It's much easier for console games because you can play them on an emulator and the tools are integrated into it. You basically have complete control on what happens on the machine here.

Hello,

I share this wonderful Rayman TAS in 1:02:37.

The authors detail the work accomplished(took them around 1.5 year) and the differents techniques utilised here: https://tasvideos.org/5449S

Yes, I brought it up here a while ago but it's definitely worth mentioning again! Young Got4n's TAS of Rayman Advance was already quite impressive, but those guys really pushed it to another level with this one. The extensive documentation is a big plus, too (otherwise, you'd have pretty much no idea what's going on).

Didn't knew that, this young man is impressive, TASing a man at his age! Will check that full video

Here's the new Rayman 1 GBC TAS by SuperSqank, published today: https://tasvideos.org/9798S

Video only:

It turned out as a 19:16.10, making the previous TAS from 2005 with a time of 28:01.67 obsolete.

Wait, so the TAS record stood for 20 years?

Congrats Sqank!

Technically, it only stood for 19 years. Last November, AmoebaUK first beat it with an unsubmitted run. (RTA timing is roughly 25 seconds faster than TAS timing for this game as it starts before hitting New Game and ends after the final hit upon Mr. Dark. Unaware of that - judging from the description on src - he thought he had already beaten TAS with an earlier submission and ended up not submitting the run that did in fact beat TAS.) He even improved the run to a 26:58 which marks the current RTA WR. Taking that into account, it's impressive how long the old TAS stood but it's also been very outdated for a long time, much more than got4n's TAS for Rayman 2 GBC from 2013.

Btw, you can read about all the improvements on the tasvideos entry.

Thanks for sharing, Zarcatus! I always thought R1 GBC was a longer game than Rayman 2 Forever, but it looks like both the TAS and the human WR are shorter.

Funnily enough, I first thought SuperSqank used the Japanese version because text displays faster, as is done in some other games, but the TAS description states it's "purely for style". Good idea to showcase this slightly different version of the game!

Oh yes, the second game has three more worlds, making it a bit longer. I believe they really put quantity over quality tho. After replaying R1GBC recently, I must admit the game is quite sensational for a GBC title and far ahead of its successor which I played more.

As for the TAS, it really does look significantly more crazy now. Just like something no human could ever get close to. And it really doesn't lack style points :)

It certainly does not! I barely understand what's going on most of the time!

Yeah, Rayman 2 Forever feels a bit lazy and repetitive while the GBC adaptation of Rayman 1 is a really good game given the technical limitations of the console.
