If you are right handed, the fingernails on your right hand grow faster. Same with left-handed.

Space stations designed to keep people on board for more than a few years would require radiation protection shield. If it was made of water (heated to not freeze), it would need to be 500 meters thick. But if it was made of H2O2, it would need to be 400 meters thick.

Random facts? It'd be surely better to just lock the thread, now wouldn't it?
For the sake of staying on-topic if there even was one, Stalin was going to invade Scandinavia but he couldn't Finnish.

Neverthless he Finnished after a justifiably (pun intended) long time.

GCC used to replace multiplication by constant by some smart additions and bit-shifting stuff without regard to target computer preferring one over another.

This is the weird part, because when you're Russian, there's no time for Stalin!

Coca Cola? I've heard it's poison, but I've drank it for years and didn't notice anything weird... be right back, feeling drowsy.

DesLife wrote:YO WHAT'S UP
Up is one of the six directions of three dimensional space. In two dimensional graphs, assuming the 'up/down' direction is present, up is usually represented by 'y'. This can also hold true for three dimensional graphs, though 'z' is also occasionally used for the 'up/down' directions. 'X', however, is never used for this purpose.

Unlike other directions, which can change depending on the orientation of the speaker, up is generally agreed upon by all to be in the direction opposite of gravities pull. The 'up' direction, however, can still change by a considerable amount if one travels a great distance across the planet. For example, 'up' for someone in the South Pole would be 'down' for someone in the North Pole. This discrepancy is generally unimportant in day to day conversation.

A more common example of the 'up' direction becoming obfuscated is in zero gravity environments, such as space. To remedy the confusion that would result, the inside of space vessels have the ceilings painted a particular colour, allowing there to be a commonly agreed upon 'up'.

Up is also commonly used as an abstraction for less solid concepts. For example, greater numbers are generally considered to be 'up' while smaller ones are considered 'down'. You will commonly hear people referring to stocks going 'up' due to this. Higher living standards can also be considered 'high' (see: upper and lower class).

You may also hear the word 'up' used to mean 'completely' or 'wholly'. For example, "I tore up the piece of paper". Other common usages include 'north' ("It's cold up here in Canada), to represent an increase in volume ("Turn the volume up"), or to mean an increased pitch ("Her voice went up in pitch to play the last note").

The word is derived from the Proto-Germanic 'upp'.

In four dimensional space, we have two extra dimensions to play around with: 'ana' and 'kata'. Similar to up, these directions may be considered 'away' and 'towards' gravity, depending on the structure of a planet in four dimensional space. This introduces a wide range of new terms: 'zakos', for example, refers to the side of an object that is farthest 'kata'. For a list of such terms, please visit this website.
