Things like this always happened to me also, interpreting sprites to be different than intended.
I remember a debate about whether
chef clowns are armed with a rolling pin... or a sausage!

Yeah, they kinda look like fish. It didn't make it any less confusing when
spiky fish were introduced in Rayman Origins...
I remember my cousin thought they were fish when we were kids. I assumed he meant starfish, since to me they always looked star-shaped with all the spikes. I actually called them "star-fellows" for want of a better name (and I only later noticed that the big ones had no eyes and so may not be "fellows" at all

)

I hate that these are called Blowing Fluffy, sounds like something you'd pay for in a seedy back alleyway lol.

I think it's actually "fuffy", not that it makes any more sense!
Nice animation though.

Magnificent animated sprites!

This only makes me realize even more of how great a Rayman GBC remake could look, whether official or fanmade!

Yeah it's actually "fuffy" as we found out on the PPC archived website.

And I thought nearly the same thing about the name!... "BLOWING"... "FUFFY"!

Sounds like an insult Caddicarus would come up with!
Which is why I'll always carry the strange honor/shame of the RayWiki's Blowing Fuffy article being the first I've ever created.

(Had to double post as I ran out of room, sorry!)
Fiery Depths Boss Arena.gif
At the exit of the Fiery Depths, a giant Scorpion blocks the way! Its armor is immune to your fist. You'll need to dodge the claws until it jumps up to the vantage point to fire its stinger at you, the impact of it's landing will make the spike ball fall down for you to punch into it!

A bonus, Globox now acts as the checkpoint, so you know where the checkpoints actually are!
That little Globox is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Wonderful work!

The Hunter Goomba is a brilliant idea, I wish they'd done that in Rayman in the Phantom Show.
As for the carnivorous plant, it kinda looks like a bird with this larger, beak-like spike on the front.

The Hunter looks so fitting as a Goomba!

And I agree it's the kind of things I wished were in the Mario + Rabbids DLC. More enemies we could have got would be Koopa Paratroopa Moths and Hammer Bros Livingstones (or clowns for the hammer)... Spider Spinies, Antitoon Buzzy Beetles, literal *Piranha* Piranha Plants! So many possibilities!
And it's still so weird how the Carnivorous Plants showed up in just one level in Rayman GBC (when they were clearly intended to appear in more locations).
They put so much effort into making a unique enemy like this and used them for only a few minutes...

Yep, that carnivorous plant sprite definitely gives me Big Bird vibes! Still awesome though! If only they'd used something like that in Rayman Junior instead of those creepy evil waterlilies…

What about the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids then, where a lot more enemies appear in only one level (e.g.
notebooks), and three of them (
pens,
robots and
schoolbags) only once in the entire game?

I actually love those creepy carnivorous plants from Rayman Junior! I can understand some might have found them too scary in their childhood, though!

As a mini project I'm thinking I'm gonna port all the GBC exclusive enemies to the console style (not counting the stone head thrower since redemption has that).

Wow, it looks so nice!
Especially this Hunter Goomba animation, would love to see that kind of ennemy in a fangame.

I second this.
By the way, these are all insanely good!

A rough draaft idea for a Picture City enemy, it'd fly left and right in a location, and when Rayman gets near, it locks on to him and dives down when he crosses under it. Defeated by punching it in the side. If over eraser terrain it will become stuck in the ground if it misses Rayman, making it easy to punch.

Aww that snail looks so cute!
I also like that pencil a lot, but I think it would be more interesting if it was an invincible enemy which blocks your way.
Like imagine you are close to the exit sign thinking you finished the level and then BAM! This pencil blocks the way and you have to find an alternative one to reach the level exit sign

I actually thought of the Pencil being a platform you could use, like if it gets stuck in the ground you can jump on it to reach higher areas!
Now that we have better rips of the snail I've improved the animation a bit.
Which one looks better though?

Great job on the diving pencil, it would have fit right in! The snail looks very cool too, you've certainly done it justice.
