Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Unleashed had terrible gameplay in my opinion. Night levels.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
The Daytime stages were decent, but I think they shone much better once Colours and Generations refined the Daytime formula.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I saw Unleashed as a step in the right direction, even if just a little one. It was nowhere near perfect, but after that poor excuse of programming known as Sonic 06, it defiantly was a breath of fresh air. As for thoughts on the series as a whole, I love it, it's my favorite video game franchise of all-time.

Do you prefer Classic Sonic or Modern Sonic?

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I can't really say, both classic and modern have things I really love. I guess maybe it's a tie.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I also like both but some people automatically think I like only classics and hate all modern stuff which is not true. I enjoyed many modern games but to be fair, I also hated many modern games.

Re: Sonic the hedgehog
Sadly, I'm being serious. For me it's not surprising, though, since the Wii U version is developed by Sonic Team while the 3DS version is developed by DIMPS. And DIMPS is known for making "meh-ish" Sonic games...Rayfist wrote:Wait... seriously? It actually looked pretty decent for a handheld version, I'll wait for the reviews. Of course the Wii U version looks a LOT better.Sergiomonty wrote:3DS version of Sonic Lost World has been terribly criticized for its clunky controls and uninspired level design, though. If I were you I would go for the Wii U version first then save up for another game.
There are a few positive impressions, though. With "terribly criticized" I don't mean "doomed"... it's just that it won't be near as good as the Wii U version. Even the most positive impressions say that the controls are too sloppy.
This guy tried both versions and found himself preferring the Wii U version a lot:
And by his playthrough you can tell that the controls are really clunky :/ I've watched his channel before, he makes some great Sonic playthroughs, so this can't be him just failing. (Also he's doing a lot better on the Wii U version)

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Really looking forward to Lost World. I'm getting a Wii U next week when the price cut hits, along with Rayman Legends.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Well, if it is developed by DIMPS, then 3DS version might not support Dual Audio (both English and Japanese voices worldwide). In Sonic Rush, they did not include voice option but maybe it was because of cartridge limitation. However if you get Japanese Sonic Rush version and have system menu of DS on English, game will play with Japanese voices and English text (plus DS was region free). Not saying that this is some kind of problem since it's just a voice acting but I just remembered how they were doing in past. Telling the truth, I do enjoy Sonic games more with Japanese voices then on English but thats not a huge gameplay factor.

To be honest, I've never been a fan of Sonic's japanese voice acting.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I'm really excited for Lost World! Sega finally realized that putting a blue, talking, cartoon hedgehog in a gritty, realistic setting makes no sense! Just looking at these surreal worlds gives me a "Classic Sonic" vibe!

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
My only nitpick is that the cartoony worlds don't have enough detail, it's still a gorgeous looking game don't get me wrong. I don't know maybe I'm just spoiled due to how beautiful Green Hill looked in Generations. It's only a minor nitpick.TheTempurmental wrote:I'm really excited for Lost World! Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Yeah, but to be honest... and this may sound ridiculous...
it was too detailed, to the point that it was ridiculous. It's a hedgehog on sneakers, I think he looks great back in his cartoonish settings. Also, the realistic worlds, although were pretty, didn't affect the exploration at all... just the framerate. Shall I remind you, this game runs at 1080p in 60fps
so this was, in my opinion, a great decision.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I perfer DREAMCAST ERA Sonic, then classic, then modern sonic. Lost world appears to be a dreamcast-classic type game instead of the recent modern-classic work that's been happening lately.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
It does not use SA engine. So how is it Dreamcast-type game? Gameplay mechanics are not even close.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Indeed, the Dreamcast era Sonic focused on the Adventure formula, Lost World definitely does not follow it, personally, I still see more of a modern-classic twist, particularly with Colours.

Lost World seems to be mixing the classic and modern formula pretty well.

My friend was trying to talk to me today how he thinks SA1 has aged horribly, hm...

It has defiantly aged, but it's still a good game.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Hm, not related, but I've noticed that quite a few people seem to mix up "definitely" and "defiantly."
Personally, I haven't played the Adventure titles, but I can see from gameplay, that while as a whole, it still is certainly a decent title, there are certain aspects which do seem a little dated.
