Well no, we never lock a thread because it becomes active – that would be counterproductive. We lock threads when they fill up with substance-free or otherwise unconstructive posts, and there appears to be little hope of amelioration.
To be honest, I'm not thrilled with how this thread started. There was more than one "request to lock", which, it should be said, is not how things work around here – mods decide when to lock threads. I also found these remarks to be quite harsh on the OP, whose question was actually not without merit. Then it turned into a game thread, which might have been better off as a new thread, perhaps referencing this one as its inspiration. In fact, I'm somewhat tempted to split it now, despite the fact that it's been this way for weeks…

I felt like making a new thread several times since this wasn't supposed to be a game thread but then I'm thinking what if people accuse me of duplicating a thread?

I think that would be the better option here
I think I only made the request once/twice but dropped it afterwards since there was no real point in me doing so, not being a mod myself.
