Hey, no replies? I ripped all the Candy Chateau backgrounds there! XD

And here's a huge update: all the Picture City backgrounds in one post! ^^

Loopable vertically and horizontally. ;)

Notice how they reused the first background here.

Coming Soon: All the Jungle backgrounds! ;)

EDIT -> Urgh, I wanted to rip the Rayman Brain Games ( PSOne ) world map, but damn, they sure made a good encryption there. I can't even find any background anywhere! o_O

In French, rapt means kidnapping.
By the way, awesome work, Droolie! I had never noticed the Space Mama background before xD

Thank you! :D
I'll do the Jungle backgrounds now.

By the way, here's the only image that I have been able to rip from Rayman Brain Games.

Whoa...a lot of updates! :D

Aww...I missed my chance to reply...
Hunchman801 wrote:In French, rapt means kidnapping.
Yes, I was just thinking that a French word for kidnapping might have been derived from the Latin, I would have asked but I was at school...

Anyway, there is too much awesomeness here for me to congratulate you on, so I just won't say anything.

BTW what the hell is going on in that last picture? o_O

No problem at all. ;)
Thank YOU for your awesome replies! XD

Only 2 Jungle backgrounds left... ( even though both are almost the same as the first Jungle background I've done o_O ).

@Spiraldoor: Betilla and a hunter from Rayman 1 are partying? :P

EDIT -> Here they are.

I don't get it why they have put ( almost ) the same background on the disc three times... :|

EDIT 2 -> I'll do the Blue Mountains backgrounds now... there are 5 files, but in the 5th file is no picture at all. XD
So there will be 4 backgrounds. After that, only one world is left: Band Land! My favourite! ^^

That was fast!

And awesome!

Blue Mountains are next, yes? :hinhinhin:

EDIT: Hmm...it appears I made this post just after Drolpiraat did EDIT 2 to the above post, but I did not see it...

Well, you can expect the Blue Mountains backgrounds very, very soon. I have already done 2 of the 4... :)
EDIT -> Only one left: the background of the boss fight with Mr. Stone! ^^
EDIT 2 -> And here they are!

Loopable horizontally, but it doesn't look as good as other loopable backgrounds because of the shape of the clouds...

Image

Here they are ;)

I'm going now. I think I've done enough for today... :P
Expect the Band Land backgrounds later this week ( maybe tomorrow - IF I stay at home like today ).

Update! All backgrounds are ripped! =D

I'll start putting the different layers ( I mean the pieces that are cut off from the background layers and stored in the game as sprites ) together soon.

Awesome! :D :yeah: Best update! Of any thing! Ever! :mryellow: :confus: :mryellow:

Now that I look at all the Band Land backgrounds at the same time, I notice how awesome all those clouds are!

Now...there's still the sprites and tiles to come, but all in good time...

And, although this is much less awesome, I'm working on ripping the Hoodlums' Revenge world map. But I have to finish it first...Infernal Machine, here I come!

Again, thanks for this awesomeness...

I REALLY need to stop saying "awesome"...

Yay, even more awesomeness! ^^

The incomplete version of this background...

... is now complete!

I'll keep a file with all the layers separate for each background too. ;)

Oh, and good luck on ripping the Hoodlums' Revenge world map! ;)

^_^

...had to find another way of expressing my happiness, so I posted the above smiley :/

Anyway, I have an idea: Would it be possible to create an animated GIF which has all the different layers of a Rayman background (in this instance, the lily pads) all moving at different speeds, in a sort of parallax-scrolling style, just like in the game? That woud be awe-...cool.

by Droolie
Yeah, it would be orsum ( use this if you don't want to say "awesome" xD ) indeed. I don't know the speed of the parallax scrolling layers in the game though. :|

Oh I just remembered something: you know the way some backgrounds you ripped seem to lack sky that should be behind the other layers? Well, I worked it out. Look at the horizontal lines where the sprites are cut off...the sky above those lines is, well, a sky...but the sky below those lines is sort of...I'm not sure how to describe it...horizontally uniform? Well, the sky beneath the cut-off lines looks as though it doesn't change at all as it moves by, if you see what I mean. That explains how there doesn't seem to be any missing sky in the game.

EDIT:Image
See?

Also, what the hell is going on over here?

Okay, here's my progress on the R:HR world map. Sorry for all the black dots and everything (I pieced the map together from screenshots, to give me an idea of where everything was before I tried putting together the stuff I ripped with the Map Viewer).

Here it is:

Did you know that you can filter the graphics in VBA to get just a background? VBA's cool like that. 8)

I know. But the backgrounds you get are sort of scrambled, and I wanted to make a world map out of screenshots first to make it easier to see what I was doing.

May I ask for these separate layers when they are finished by each?
Also is there any chance for tiles?
