Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Oh yes, I'm looking for 43,000. If I choose to lose 500 points from the fourth Matuvu, I still should get this number if I play my cards right in the following levels of TFC.

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
I meant Josh, that he could get 39.000 in LOTLD. For you, I know, that you have more ambition in FC. My first high score, 42.200, wasn't with a few days practise (T3MC) so hard.
Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Well, I'm not familiar with most of the combos MandM has devised as the tricks I used back in 2005 are very, very outdated now. But yeah, the 3MC is so hard that I'm seriously considering forgetting the second Matuvu Combo - which won't be disastrous but will be quite a blow. I should get 43000.
And Josh should get far more than 39000, don't you think? 56,000 points is the advisory amount to get through to part 2, if of course one is going for the maximum.

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Xenon: Yes, I mentioned the opportunity of using the three yellow gems on the floor to get the Matuvu for 1.500 combo points. I haven’t done it myself yet, and doing it together with the extended 3MC is virtually impossible. There are difficulties when doing this last Matuvu combo. One is making the Vortex last long enough. Another, and more serious one, is that when you activate Look Mode Rayman will automatically focus on the lift. There is very little time left to adjust the camera and get the Matuvu in combo. However, I’m still working on it occasionally and maybe one day both these combos will be working in the same game.

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Well, but when you play part 4 on max score it's even harder.
(Oh no, Part 1 is the hardest

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
I finished part 3. But with a measely score of 15220, not applaudable. I eventually decided to take MandM's advice in saving those 500 points for the next time I play TFC, mostly because I saw no chance of success in taking that fourth Matuvu for 1000 points.
However, I have discovered a few little tricks with the 3MC that MandM seemingly hasn't picked up on. Firstly, he says that Rayman needs to be in the correct position to get the first Matuvu and the Slapdash, but the Slapdash can easily be taken if Rayman simply jumps up. And secondly, I've found that to get the third Matuvu, it's so much easier to just press the camera button and not zoom in. If you zoom in, time is taken up. The last two tries, I didn't use the zoom button and the 3MC worked fine.

Congrats!
Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Thanks. ^^ Sadly though it's not the 16,000 target I was longing for.

Xenon: Well done! Only fools do not fear Matuvus
By the way, what's with the avatar? I can see Mostwanted has been able to change his. How does one do that? Can I insert my own avatar?
Edit: ok, just saw mine has changed. How does that happen?

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
I never zoom when comboing a Matuvu after a gem/piggy bank/mushroom. It's easier to coordinate because you have to push one button less and the handling is therefore simpler (quite logical). However, both ways are possible and eventually everybody should decide themselves which version they prefers. As I've said before, I never zoom after a gem/piggy bank/mushroom but I always zoom after a Hoodlum.Xenon wrote: And secondly, I've found that to get the third Matuvu, it's so much easier to just press the camera button and not zoom in. Xenon: When I make a walkthrough I suggest a way of doing things and for obvious reasons I won’t list all the different choices one might have in a particular combo. It is, as sfn points out, up to the individual person to find his or her own way that is suitable in a given situation. But as you mentioned two examples I will deal with them here. First, yes, it is correct you can jump and hit the Slapdash. But I recommended finding the right place to stand because you will lose a fraction of second of combo time when you jump. And this fraction of a second may come in handy when you fall down to get the second Matuvu.
As for zooming in or not, if you look at the 3MC video you will notice I don’t zoom in on the first two Matuvus but I do on the third. For me it’s not slower or faster but merely habit. If you are more comfortable without the zooming, then that’s your way to play this combo.

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Good work, Xenon. It wasn't you target, but it's still an good score.
Well, I find it easier, too, don't push the zoom button. I've got a good feeling with this and I did this at all difficult matuvu-tricks.
But, how you said, everyone have to decide.

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
I agree with you now, but similarly to MandM I had a habit of zooming in all the time. But yeah, as you said, it does save precious time if the zoom button is not pressed, so I've been trying my hardest not to do so.I never zoom when comboing a Matuvu after a gem/piggy bank/mushroom. Sorry, my intention wasn't to nitpick your solution or to prove you wrong. I should have made myself more clear. I was only suggesting an easier method for taking the Slapdash and third Matuvu.Xenon: When I make a walkthrough I suggest a way of doing things and for obvious reasons I won’t list all the different choices one might have in a particular combo. In any case, I personally find it easier to jump and hit the Slapdash because I believe Rayman has to have an exact position? I found it a few times, but not frequently enough to deter me from jumping and risking those extra nanoseconds. I could still get the second Matuvu moderately easily so long as Rayman was facing the correct direction (then I simply pressed the look button and lifted the camera). As far as the third Matuvu is concerned, do you really find it easier to zoom in while taking it? Thanks to the force of habit which I explained earlier, I always used to zoom in on it and could only take it in time once every ten times or so. Have you tried it without zooming though? Out of four tries, I took it in combo three.
Thanks. Yeah, it's not the score I was hoping for at all and if my patience span was longer I'd still be playing to get that fourth Matuvu for 1000 points. I guess it's something I'm going to have to do next time I play TFC which will hopefully be a long, long time.Good work, Xenon. It wasn't you target, but it's still an good score.
------------
Anyway, on to part 4 now. Do you guys think this level is also hard?
Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Xenon: Don’t worry. I didn’t take see you as a stickler for details anyway. Whether or not I activate zoom it has no bearing on how fast I activate look mode. The X-Box control is very easy to handle that way. It’s really a bad habit. I do the same when taking the Matuvu in LOTLD the Matuvu combo and I do the same with the Matuvu in part 3, although I have stopped that now. The zoom would often let that particular Matuvu out of focus. It took time to unlearn that.
Part 4 is a bit hard, but it depends on how you play it and what combos you decide to use. But for sure, it’s not as frustrating as the previous part.

@Xenon: How many points do you have?
Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
The first combo in part 4 looks pretty tough, judging by the video. Quite an ingenius way of moving around the room though, I must say. I guess creativity is required here.
@ mostwanted: Altogether? I have 815235 at the moment.

Re: The Rayman 3 Scores Topic
Well, I think I'm able to get 825.000 - I've already found an method, but then I don't know. Anytime I have to play The Summit - I'm fear of Part 3 and the gem.
