I wasn't huge on the backtracking personally.

Backtracking in SMW? That's the first time I've ever heard that Oo At what part do you need to backtrack?

Colored blocks, star road. Unless you aren't doing a 100% play through, you do need to backtrack to few levels where you activated color blocks. Some levels you need to play more than once as well because different exits/paths.

But when Rayman 1 does it, it's fine?
#DoubleStandards heh

But if we're also going to be specific, my first 3D platformer was Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue.

Except Rayman 1 was way less tedious and hardly relied all that much on backtracking only for a few levels. You're comparing two completely seperate platformers.

I beat SMW withought backtracking one single time, but that's impossible in R1

Define "beating." I've not played much of SMW, but from what I understand, playing it normally doesn't require backtracking, but 100%ing does. Rayman 1 makes 100%ing a necessity in order to reach the final boss.

Either ways, I didn't mind backtracking in earlier areas of Rayman 1, but the forced backtrack in that one level in Picture City...

Honestly R1's backtracking just didn't bother me, it was very miniscule. I didn't know Super Mario World's was optional. I could've sworn you need some of those color blocks to proceed.

You only need color blocks to get alternate paths to beat a level. While Rayman 1 needs you to have powers you get later in the game in order to get to cages which are needed if you want to get to the last level.

Hm, I take back the backtracking then. A problem I did have with SMW is that it doesn't feel NEARLY as varied as SM3 did (at least the GBA and SNES ports)

I've tried many times to finish SMB3 but I just kind of get bored with it. I don't know quite what it is, I think it's the level design probably. SMW never really bored me though, so I managed to make it to the end. There are also a faecal load of secrets, though I didn't sumble upon any.

I don't think I've ever finished one of the older SM games. I have both the original and super mario bros 2 on my 3ds on virtual console, but they're both pretty hard, (and I suck, lol). Same goes for Zelda. I've never finished any of the older Zelda games, although I've definitely played most of 'em. I tend to lose track after a while and forget where I was at when I return to playing.

Sadly I can't remember what was my first game ever as I've always been playing games since I was little (who knows, maybe I was already playing on my Gameboy when I was in my mother's womb  )

I remember many of the first games I had were the LCD screen ones, had one about Spyro that I got in an Happy Meal at McDonald's.
I used to play many educational games on PC, but probably the first REAL game I ever played is Rayman 1 on PC :D

The first game I ever remember playing was a random mobile game where you would tun zombies over with cars. The first proper game though was Minecraft on my old Xbox!
