A survey sounds fine with me. I'd recommend having other, more specific, questions then, like: "Which is your favorite handheld Rayman game?", "Which is your favorite Rayman game in the original trilogy?", "Which is your favorite Ubi-Art Rayman game?" etc. as well as the top Rayman game/games of all time.

Looks like we're in agreement. I'll draft up a rough copy of the survey, hopefully we can get it up before New Year's.

I think it's looking good now. You could also add a question for favorite version of Rayman 1 and 2 since that's something which differs a lot as well. And maybe something around the Rabbid games as well (the ones with rayman in the title that is).

I'm the only one who has voted for Rayman 1! Also I agree with carrot-master. I think a section for "main spin offs" which would included Rush, M, Educational titles, and Rabbids 1, 2 and TV Party would be cool.

Right, I've updated the survey so it asks about more spin-offs, as well as asking about version differences. I've reset the survey, so everyone should be able to run through it again. Be sure to continue giving further feedback!

Perhaps you could add the PS1 version to the list of versions of Rayman 2 as well? Would it also be possible allowing several answers for the feason behind liking the game? And maybe a question asking which game has their favorite soundtrack?

I've amended the lists, the whole RRR Trilogy is now listed on the Portable Spin-offs, and the PS1 version is mentioned for R2. Unfortunately, Google Forms doesn't let me limit the amount of boxes that can be checked if I set up a checkbox question. I've compromised and allowed folks to select their top two aspects that cause them to prefer their games. The other field is still present for any other detail.

As for soundtracks, I'm not entirely sure how I'd add those in. There's plenty of games in the franchise overall, and many spin-offs have their own unique tracks.

In the meantime, the survey's been reset again, so please give it another shot, everyone!

Well maybe it'd be better leaving it at one option then, since it's harder when looking at the results to have to check two different reasons for liking the game.

For soundtracks you could simply ask for which game has the overall best tracks in the main series to keep it simple (and have them all be based of the most commonly used ones, like the PS1 tracks for rayman 1, all except the N64/DS tracks for rayman 2 etc.).

Hmm, I do have the results linked to a spreadsheet which I've been using to monitor the average scores for each game. I could use that spreadsheet to also combine the two most favoured aspects in a Pie Chart. It's still a compromise, but it could do the trick.

As for soundtracks, I'd like to be in-depth, but at the same time I feel it'd be too distracting from the main point of the survey. I think a separate survey for soundtracks might be better, as it'd allow for greater depth and focus.

It depends on how many revisions I end up going through. I intend for the survey to be ready by New Years, so if you don't want to fill it out repeatedly, hold off for now. I'll probably announce when the final survey is ready on the portal and in this topic.

Just a little update. I've now linked the survey to a spreadsheet, this spreadsheet contains the average scores of the games, and also combines the most and second most selected favourite aspects from each game and shows them on a pie chart. Since no-one's selected RO or RL for their favourites, there's no charts visible for those as of yet.

Hmm, I'm pretty comfortable with how the survey is at present, with the spreadsheet covering for some items that aren't so visible on the Survey Results page. If there aren't any further comments to make, I'll be resetting the survey for the final time this weekend, and begin running it proper on Sunday.

Once the survey is running, I'll screencap the poll and add a link to the image of it on the OP. I'll also note its duration (Jun 6th 2014 - Dec 31st 2016) and the fact that it was polling about the top three favourites, not an absolute.

Hmm, it looks like the spreadsheet is a bit iffy, the results are all valid, I'm guessing it looks odd is because I used it before I reset the survey. The results in there are correct though, so I don't think there's any cause for concern.
