Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege Game
I can't wait to play with that one.
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege Game
The full game isn't out yet, no.
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (6/2/08)
I just updated the first post with information.
What I want? Artists. Let's face it. This game isn't going to get finished any sooner with just me working on it off and on all the time.
So, what does this mean? Well, I hope to work with everyone here to get this finished finally!
What else does this mean?
Well, I've come to realize that some parts of this game are really TOO AMBITIOUS as well.
The multiplayer? I realized that this was making me lose sight of what I really wanted, so it's been scrapped to focus on the single player adventure.
The other languages? Not scrapped. I am not releasing multiple languages from the get-go (unless I have full-time translators that volunteer). What I've done in the end was make all the text external, so that in the future, if anyone wants to make other languages (like Dutch or UK English instead of US English or something), they can be released as zipped folders that replace everything in the "text" resource folder. I had doubts even about this, but I realized that having external text has actually made the game easier to work with. So, I've ended up with a flexible system that can be worked with in the future rather than a must-have before the game is released.
Thank you for your time.

Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (6/2/08)
Thank you. XD
And I uploaded a few pages from my concept book, explaining how the "fire/good" and "shadow/evil" powers work.

Yeah, I had a discussion on RZ, though it can be discussed here.
The main idea is that there would be a platform that the mechfish would slowly eat away, and you'd have to stay alive. Other enemies would come out and attack you (some thrown out by the mechfish). Some of the enemies would be the floating pirate bombs, which you can deflect and shoot back to him, harming him.

Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (6/2/08)
oh, so you're basically using my idea! (i'm aeojrtfao by the way
)
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (6/2/08)
Yep.
XD I decided to end up using it.
Oh, and since I posted the intro before, and I just did the new one on RZ, I'll post it here:
Phoenixan, wake up...
You are in danger here.
Ask yourself, how long has it been?
How long since you entered this room and never left?
You are vulnerable, nowhere near ready to fight.
After all this time, after surving so many assaults,
Your spirit and feelings have decayed, drifting away.
All that is left now is the DARKNESS that lived within your heart,
And the FIREY traces of your near-dead spirit.
You must repair both, Phoenixan.
Only then you will be ready to strike back...

those eyes are kinda freaky...
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (6/2/08)
That's the whole idea.
Though they blink, so it's not really so bad.

Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (6/2/08)
Thanks.
I already gave this out to some people quite a long time ago, but here's a sample of the menu interface (customizing gamepad). I'll probably add in the letters/assignments for 360 controllers later next to the button numbers. It already supports 360 controllers as well as anything else, although it doesn't show it.

Also showing the game run in fullscreen (16-bit) display.
*edit*
I just added a new userbar to the front page. A "shadow" one to come in the future.

By the way, have you ever thought of creating an article for FUS on RayWiki?
Re: Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege (7/5/08)
I haven't actually. XD That wouldn't be too bad of an idea considering it's one of the first fangames. Could make up an article for Rayman M2 as well, by Hoodlum_09 and the like. Those are the people that made me want to start Fire Under Siege in the first place. XD I'll do that one day when I'm bored.
