How do 2D character ranks look any worse or less aesthetically pleasing?

I'm with Ad and Brad, I don't really see a disconnect in 2D and 3D ranks, provided that they're done well.

Xenon is an ancient RZ dinosaur like myself, and proper a Rayman purist, and he totally gets it.

It's hard to say, but it's something to do with the fact that things in 3D seem more, real, somehow (and that's not to say none of the Origins ranks are good, by the way, as some are fantastic), and it's the same reason I find the worlds from the second and third games to be the more aesthetically pleasing.

I do agree that we need a more representative ranklist with more 2D ranks, though.

Much as I love the 3D styles, I don't agree that the 2D ranks are less aesthetically pleasing.

It's a bit of a tangent, but I've been thinking about why some of us - consciously or unconsciously - regard the UbiArt games as spinoffs, or at least distinct from the 'main series'. Partly I think it's because they're not numbered, but I also wonder if it's their internal consistency. None of the first 3 Rayman games have properly shared an art style or overarching sensibility, though they've made obvious efforts to link to each other. But Origins and Legends are made with the same engine and with the same design intention. They feel like two parts of a single huge project - unlike the other three, which are all the flagship titles of their own projects. It's an approach that's unusual in the history of the IP.

This is probably not the place to bring this up, but since we've been having this little quibble in this very topic, I don't see why I shouldn't.

It just comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. The rankslist should just remain a fair representation of all the Rayman games. Which is how it pretty much is atm.

There is no Legends on the ranklist at all. No matter what you think of the game, that's not fair representation.

All I think is that the rank list should represent all Rayman games fairly, obviously within reason and common sense. As I don't know much about any game after Rayman 3 I can't really say much for the other game ranks.

Then it's obvious why I think your ranks aren't as reasonable as having Legends ranks instead.
