I'm pretty sure that's what the Grolgoth missiles in the PS1 version looked like as well. I didn't really mind it.

Because a) there can only be one and b) I wanted to set myself a goal which thou, good sir, hast provided me.
And the missiles look fine when you don't have time to pay attention to their textures, ie. most of the time.
