- Hmm yeah that's my other problem, I need to sort out the TV situation. Rayman 3 is OK because it's 16:9 but RR is only in 4:3. I might have to bring a CRT back inside if I can't get this ordered soon enough.

– The superglue gave up after less than a week.
+ My mother and I managed to put in place a more lasting solution, the road to which involved, among other things, a makeshift hammer, a nail, a skewer and a gas hob.
– While looking for philips screws to replace the star-head ones (since we don't have a star-head screwdriver and had to co-opt a flat head one) I may have accidentally sent a spare motherboard in my toolbox down to the "will never work again" level.
– And in the end I didn't find any philips screws, and just screwed the stars back in, again with an inappropriate flat-head driver…
+ Upshot of it is, we got one over on the corporatists who probably hoped that a little piece of plastic breaking would make us buy a whole new washing machine.
