I heard that the Smurfs movie could be way better. Something failed for sure.

Never seen it myself, but could it have something to do with it taking place in the real world? Because the cliché of taking well known characters from a well known fantasy world and having them come to Earth has always been a pretty fucking stupid concept, and it's usually an effective recipe for failure.

It really isn't difficult to make the concept work, it's just that directors can sometimes be incredibly fucking stupid themselves.

I never really got into those movies.. I was more for true and scary ghost movies.
I personally prefer slasher movies where everyone dies. Except Saw. I hated Saw :pfff:
Come on, the Saw movies are so bad they're freaking hilarious.

I won't question that, but it still seems like a lazy solution to me.

Funny, thats how I see most slasher movies. I have yet to find a "scary" movie that doesnt make me laugh in some way, but for me, Saw went over the edge and just kinda plummeted from so bad its funny to just "ok, this is getting old now" bad

Well, did you watch them on your own or with friends ? I wouldn't even bother to watch that stuff alone, I'd be way too bored.

I guess so. But it seemed like a good idea at the time, before it turned cliche.

Coming soon: Super Mario Brothers 2! Mario and Princess Peach have to come to our world to save Luigi and Toad from the evil clutches of the toaster!

And I wonder if there's going to be a "Chris Thorndyke: the movie".

Watched Cidade de Deus yesterday, a film about life in a Brazilian favela. Very good movie. Anyone else seen it?

I just watched "the girl with the dragon tattoo" and was quite half hearted with it. On one side, it was a pretty good movie but on the other, I think that my expectations were set a bit too high only to get disappointed with how everything went forward.

It is not a bad movie, but not what you would expect considering the heavy praises the book received.

I was to the movie theater yesterday and I saw Detachment. It was not a bad movie. I mean, I liked it but you just feel so awkward when you come back to your home.

But I can't stand the saw series. At all.

I saw Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Despite having what some may think as a hard-to-follow plot, I highly reccomend it, however I think that the Academy Award for Best Film should go to The Artist.
