One disadvantage of Eve, and Ubisoft never thought the phpbb forum be defaced...

I don't think they were too bothered about it, as they knew they had Groupee forums ready and waiting. The forum could easily have been restored if they had bothered to back up the database.

But they did not care, all of us know it ^^

Actually, the phpBB forum was a bit of a mistake from Ryosan. Since the phpBB forum was created, the web people at Ubi always wanted to move the forum to their Groupee server. I remember that there was a Rayman forum at the English Ubisoft forums in 2003, but it was unused because moving a phpBB forum connected with the Lums Quest to their Groupee server wasn't so easy to do and they didn't wanted to make the community members mad. And then, the forum was hacked (on an easy way), and then Ubi knew that this was the right time to move the forum. They had a database backup, whice they used on the French Ubi forums. That didn't worked out well, so on MY request, they didn't used the backup on the new English RaymanZone forums.

I don't see why they are using Groupee anyway. phpBB is almost as secure, and anyway, Groupee is ugly (no offence).

They are not stupid. They let their community managed by Groupee because they, and many other huge companies, didn't want to make time and money to fix security holes and update software. I think you already know, but the Eve system Ubi is using is remotely hosted and only Groupee has the access to the files and Ubisoft's private Groupee server. If the RaymanZone was always a Groupee forum, the hack didn't happen. But I know phpBB is better, but I also know that Groupee is soon going to release a version 2 of the system..

I think the admins should use a phpBB forum using Yabbers for example and let a moderator manage it.

Yabbers is using the cheap and overused phpBB mod called MultiForums. With it, you can create more forums out of one phpBB instalation. Thus it means that every forum is on the same set of phpBB files but everyone has their own database tables for it. You can get much better free remotely hosted boards. Better try ezBoard or InvisionFree for great forum hosting. But still, the best way to host a board is to buy some advanced webspace and host a system like phpBB, Invision, or vBulletin.

Almost all RaymanZoners prefer phpBB. But Groupee is just good enough to make it a nice forum.

Eve wouldn't be winner of a beauty contest, though it is very good with security.

Yes, the Eve layout looks ugly but it has got some nice functions and it is very secure.

From what I know, Eve isn't as expensive as other systems like vBulletin either...

True. But still, the real sad mistake from the system is the layout from both the source code and the graphical table style.
