I done that in 2012. I went to run out of the sitting room and kicked the sofa and heard "CRUNCH". Yes I screamed

I limped around all day in pain and only realised at bed time when I took my shoes and socks off again that my baby toe on my right foot went black. I think I had broken it but there's not much you can do with a broken toe anyway. It went the right colour again after a few days but never fully recovered as I can still feel the pain of I put strain on that foot to this day.

That too, happened to me multiple times, although not to the degree of totally breaking my toe, just being in pain for a few hours.

Today feels better tahn yesterday. Because I don't have to go out at all today. (Sunshine today is overrated in my house). But then I woke up late and missed something important. Sigh.....

JESUS ouch! :boon:

Why didn't you take your sock off right away?? Did you think you were gonna tough that one out? The crunch part made me squirm.

I've stubbed my toes so many times, but the worst I ever did was fracture my big toe. Fortunately I seem to have finally rid myself of the stubbing disease a year ago after having lived with it for the last 20 years. Maybe that fracture set off something in my head, because that was the last time I can recall having stubbed my toe, and it was almost a year ago now. It used to be a daily thing.

Pretty sure the only time I've broken a bone was my little toe, but it's never been so bad as to turn black  just reading that gives me the shivers...

I think one of the worst feelings that I had was during college living with a few roomates. I was trying to get up from my desk and then I slipped and fell on this weird metal latch to a cupboard in my room, COMPLETE rip off the skin and there was this large gash in my knee, it would NOT stop bleeding for hours I practically was crying the whole time and trying to stop it from bleeding, it was just so much pain that I had never experienced before in my life since someone jammed my foot in the door (Didn't have my car to go drive to a pharmacy, money to take a bus, and it was a weekend so nothing around was open). And unfortunately that mistake has caused me to have a permanent scar on my knee, which I still have to this day.

Yes and I did take the sock off and thought it looks fine but just really hurts but then it was about 8-10 hours later when I realised it was gone black (or purple I suppose). I went to the doctors the next morning just to be sure but they said "it's probably not broken but even if it is you can't do much with a broken toe except tie it to the toe beside it to hold it in place until it sets"

I assume it was broken if it was black and I still get that pain across my foot from time to time if I lean on it. I can feel it now but I think it's just in my head from thinking about it

Sorry if that news made you feel nauseated or anything I didn't mean it like that. Well at least I didn't put up any pictures and wouldn't do that either

Also to stop bleeding you should always hold the area above your heart to avoid the throbbing ;)

Reminds me of the time in primary school when I fell on a rough tarmac basketball court and sliced my knee (through my trousers!). For years there was a little bump there. Funnily enough it still seems to get infected every so often and is in fact currently going through a flare-up. Perhaps I should be worried...

Also Ad that's terrible! Do you think you know what the root cause is?

Not at all bro. This news is much less vomit-inducing compared to the GODDAMNUGLY pink Tily theme that Fifo showed me.

Thanks. I'll try to remember that for next time.

Bleedin' hell, this thread is tumbling into the obscene :oops2:
I can't really remember my worst injury, I once had a dent in the front of my skull from impacting a metal pillar but it was rather minor and there wasn't any external injury.
I do have a burn scar on my arm which was caused by my running into a live iron. The result of me being a pillock basically.
Other than that I once stepped on a nail which was poking an inch out of the floor with a bare foot, which is probably the most gruesome but surprisingly not as painful as I would have expected.

I think having an ingrown toenail was the most horrid constant pain I've ever experienced. The smallest of stubs or kicking something even with shoes on used to leave me screaming in agony. It took a full year to get an appointment to have it removed.

It's not nice people so be careful with those toenails. I actually got mine from verrucas that I had to have dealt with so many times on the toe to try get rid of them but unfortunately wearing dressings on it that often caused me to get the ingrown toenail. The pain of it, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy :ouin:

I hate that SO MUCH! Only the thought of it leaves me cringing!

One of the worst experiences with my toes were when I was a kid opening the front door for somebody and I make the mistake of leaving door unlocked and someone complete rams the door into my big toe, which not only cracked it but caused it to bleed heavily. I was in almost as much pain as the scar incident, but this incident nearly killed my big toe as it turned black and the nail wouldn't grow back for weeks which caused me to initially believe it was really dead and wouldn't grow back. I don't know how not having a toenail and being able to stick a finger into the flesh underneath sounds good in any way.
Ambidextroid wrote:Bleedin' hell, this thread is tumbling into the obscene :oops2:
Yes it has, but somehow this in my opinion has happened a lot to the other threads lately. And usually, it's me who causes these things, so I apologize if I am the one who made this topic into some strange gossip thread about...toes.

It feels great being inside by the way and my allergies are FUCKING gone!

I've dealt with 3 ingrown toenails within my lifetime and had to get surgery each time, luckily the 3rd time was the last and it's been gone since. Yeah, it's absolutely awful, it can reach severe pain too. Even just walking in New York while I had that ingrown toenail was extremely painful. But when you stub it, it just starts to pour blood. So glad I'm not dealing with it now.

Actually just today I started laughing at my own stupidity five (nearly six - has it really been so long?) years ago when I grabbed a metal tripod with my bare hand moments after removing a Bunsen burner from underneath! It took a few seconds for the pain to register, at which point the teacher had already begun chastising me! :P I'm sure it was really sore, but what sticks in my memory is how surreal the whole experience was (which explains why I can laugh about it) - having to stay behind for probably ten minutes after the next class had started, just to tend to the wound!

Also I had an in-grown toenail operated on in mid-2015. I was prescribed painkillers which my parents offered to get in the pharmacy in the same town as the doctor's surgery. I said there was no need, shur I felt fine! Then as we were driving home the anaesthetic started to wear off... We had to make an emergency stop in the next town to get those painkillers! :P

Mine used to do the same and I had to keep using plasters so I wouldn't get blood on my socks. The worst part also was mine kept draining pus :beurk:

Yes it's a horrible thing that anyone that never had one would easily overthink and say man up nothing's wrong. Unfortunately it's a lot more painful and limiting than you could possibly imagine.

When I had it, there were kids playing football in a field one day. The ball came to me and they said here pass. I kicked it with that sore foot not thinking and limped off in pain because I didn't want to embarrass myself. Worst part is it was only a little ground pass for about 25 meters

Mine was in 2013 and I had to get a taxi home after surgery as the hospital made me. I started to feel the pain on the way home in the taxi and never took the painkillers but had 4 cans of beer that night instead

I also had to be back there at 8am the next morning in the wound management clinic then change the dressings myself daily while using iodine strips.

I've fortunately never had an in-grown nail. Or I might have, but I used to pick at them so hard that I would've dug it out myself before it got too bad. That's never fun though, especially on my fingers, because I'm usually the sole cause of 90% of my own finger injuries, which is really dumb seeing as it can prevent me from being able to play piano for days on end. I need to get consistent manicures to stop me from picking and biting altogether. I'm in this phase right now where ditching bad habits I've clung to my whole life seems incredibly easy, so I'll hop on that!
PluMGMK wrote:Also Ad that's terrible! Do you think you know what the root cause is?
Well yeah, the sick part would be manageable on its own if it wasn't accentuating what was already there. I think I might've gotten sick from a friend I had over two days ago, but I don't think she even knew she was sick since it didn't seem remotely evident. You're most contagious before you even know you're sick, after all.

Likewise #3, I have a massive, very tender scar on my knee I got when I was 6, when I fell off this like four-metre cliff and landed on a barnacle-covered rock poking out of the water. My entire knee was gashed open and I remember the salt water getting in there…! It all healed except for this one, very thick line of a scar. Even gently bumping it feels probably comparable to getting sacked.

---

Feeling update from this morning: like 40% better. I took three Advil 400's and I feel like I'm in stasis, sitting in the tub. My lower half is still in pain obviously, but it's no longer any worse than usual. Every time I sneeze I see stars though, which is pretty frequent. Emotions are a bit more subdued too.

Rats, the sick headache is already starting to come back. 1200 milligrammes of Advil and it only kept me at bay for like two hours. At least my mood's kicked up a lot even since an hour ago, which is the part I'm happiest about. I can deal with the rest of the pain, I just need to avoid getting my emotions set off by something, so I'll stick to cute animals, RPC venting and educational videos.

Now that today is coming to a close I feel a little sad. It was nice having the house to myself, but tomorrow I have to drive again. sigh..
